Hi everyone,
Thought I''d run the following offer by you guys. Can anyone give me some input on the following specs? Should I be worried that polish and symmetry are only ''very good'' (is GIA certified)? What do you think of the price?

GIA certified
Round brilliant
1.57 carat

depth 60.9 %
table 58%
Girdle thin to medium faceted
culet none

Price for the stone only £5495

Thanks in advance for any input,
Peter

I wouldn't worry about VG/VG polish/symmetry, unless you need to know that it's EX/EX to be happy. To the naked eye, even an expert would most likely have a hard time telling the difference between a stone with VG/VG vs one with EX/EX. As far as the specs, it's a good start. H VS2 is a good combo, and the table and depth suggest that it could be a top performer. if you can actually view the stone, compare it to others and see if it's the most beautiful to you. That's the most important thing, in my opinion. However, if I had to buy the stone based just on the information you gave, I wouldn't really be comfortable. At a minimum, I'd like to have crown and pavilion angles to help determine the optical properties of the stone, or to put it more simply, how it will sparkle, as my fiancee says. After that, there are other tools that could gie you a better idea on the stone's optical performance, i.e. an idealscope. But again, if you can compare it to other stones in person, that may be good enough. As far as price, it appears that in US dollars, it's around $9,730, which seems to be a fair, competitive price, when compared to other 1.57 H VS2 stones ($9140-$12140)with similar tables and depths. Finally, for a purchase this size, I definitely think it's wise to find a trusted, independent appraiser to help evaluate the stone, and help you in your purchase. Hope this advice helps. good luck in your search.
