Hi- I'm new and not sure what inclusions are okay to have where. Also are there too many inclusions in the diamond? I haven't been able to find a pc diamond that I like so I am thinking about a RB with the following specs attached. I used the HCA tool and it said that the RB scored EX in light, fire and scintillation and a very good in spread. If I inputed all the info correctly the HCA score was 1.2. I would love to hear everyone's or anyone's comments on this particular diamond. Thank you.

Hi Sparkle524,

it will be helpful if you could post the IS and/or ASET images.

Think crystal/needle are fine if the stone is eye clean, but not sure about the indented natural, maybe the experts here are able to chime in.

Quoted an expert's Karl K's explanation on Natural & Indented Natural inclusions:
"Natural = a bit of the original skin of a diamond left on the diamond.
Indented Natural = a indentation that was caused by a indentation of the diamonds skin that was left on the diamond.

Cavity = hole or indentation that was not part of the skin or is particularly large. I believe an indented natural over a certain size will be plotted as a cavity but I am not sure where the line is drawn. One cause of a cavity is a crystal was on the surface and fell out leaving a hole.
Another cause: it is where a feather meets the surface."

With a VS2 it should be eyeclean- but I would confirm it. You shouldn't have any integrity issues with a VS2

"Okay" is relative.
Okay for one person is not okay for another.

That said ...
GIA VS2 has a very very high chance for being eye-clean, a standard many agree is their threshold of tolerance for clarity.
If you insist on an eye-clean diamond the ONLY way to be absolutely certain this one is eye-clean to YOUR standards is to buy it and look at it for a few days under every kind of lighting.
I would only do that if your vendor is reputable and puts their no questions asked money back guarantee in writing.

Short of that you can ask the vendor if it is eye-clean, but they may say yes and you may not agree when you get it.
This may not mean the vendor was lying.
Eye-clean is not an absolute black and white thing like weight.
People's vision varies and over the years customers have posted about this very problem.

so very true. everyone has different standards for what they deem acceptable in terms of "eyeclean"

Thank you. The vendor is IDJ. I did read on here that someone was having an eye clean issue with one of their diamonds. From their website it says that they have a 30 day return policy but that a 3% restocking free may be charged. Hmm, not sure if I am willing on taking a 3% loss.

You are correct in that there was a recent "eye clean" issue regarding a stone from IDJ. However the stone in that other case was graded by EGL (which has been known to be very liberal in grading), which described an SI1 inclusion. The stone you are considering is graded by GIA at VS2. So your situation and the earlier situation are very different. All that said, I agree with what has already been said, a stone with a GIA VS2 grade will likely be eye-clean. Just confirm with IDJ to be sure.

ETA: Also wanted to note that the earlier situation you referenced seems to have been resolved to the buyers satisfaction.

Well, I think you just need to keep in mind that one person's definition of eyeclean may not be the same as someone else's. I believe that thread you are talking about is what Kenny was also referring t0- its hard to say that the vendor's perception and eyesight will be the same as yours :)

If you are going with a VS2, you are most likely in the clear. The other poster I believe was looking at SI1-SI2 and in those cases many times you get lucky with clear/white inclusions that are not noticeable, prongable, or that it is eyeclean because of the type of inclusion and location. With a VS2 I think you will have more luck in terms of "eyeclean".

Taking a risk with the 3% is your call.... not sure if other places charge a restocking fee though- they might.

agreed! we posted at the same time.

and Allie loves her new stone and it was resolved.

Thank you. I may have to pass on this diamond as I don't want to lose the 3%.

I would call them and ask to speak to Yekutiel to discuss the stone. Let him know you are wary due to the restocking fee. I wouldn't be surprised if he waived it.

I agree with plummiecat. You should call Yekutiel and see what he says about the stone. It might be that this one is a winner and you let it go. You should also mention that you are a Pricescope member when you speak with him.
