Could somebody once and for all tell me if the stone i purchased is a good stone? I want it to be perfect for my fiance to be. There is just so much information out there, its hard to handle. Some people tell you one thing, others tell you something else. I thought I did my homework on this before I purchased it, but I am still second guessing myself.

It is a 1.43 ct
GIA Cert
Round
F color
SI1
60% Table
59.7% Depth
Crown Angle: 32.5%
Crown Height: 13.0%
Pavillion Angle: 41.2%
Pavillion Depth: 43.5%
Star Ex %: 55%
Pavillion Ex %: 75

GIA will start adding a cut grade to their reports starting January 2006. Until then, GIA has a website that if you plug in the percentages of the diamond it will accurately predict the cut grade that it will receive. For mine it came out as Excellent which is the best that it can get.

On the cut advisor on this website it came back as a 2.4 (very good, worth buying if the price is right).
Light return: Very Good
Fire: Very Good
Scintillation: Very Good
Spread: Excellent

Now before I really knew who Fred Cuellar was, I emailed him and he said that the stone is very "Wrapped" and only returns about 30% of the light where as if it wasnt wrapped, it should return closer to 90%.

Can anyone throw their 2 cents in and let me know what they think of it? Thanks soooo much!

This whole process was WAY tougher than i thought! haha.

You got a very desirable size, and I''d think the slightly spready make makes it look like a 1.50ct+ stone. As you know, this is not an ideal cut. It would still be considered as a fine make by most standards and I''m sure it will be very sparkly. Those larger table-stones usually display more white light as opposed to colored light.
If you paid a good price and the SI1 is not eyevisible, I think you could have gotten a pretty nice stone!

Dear Boston,

I think the numbers tell you that you have a nice stone. Not ''ideal'' in the technical sense that may of the PS''rs here refer to, but a nice one. My advise is to stop second-guessing yourself. Unless you paid an ungodly amount of money for it, be happy because you obvioulsy bought it and you think it is nice. This is the same advice that I''ve gotton from others here...don''t go down the path I did and lose hours of sleep and probably days off my life over this. It''s not worth it!

If you are wondering, I bought a 1.54 F VS2 with very similar table/depth measurments that you have via GIA...and paid almost 15K for the stone. If you think I over-paid, then good...maybe it may make you feel better ;).

Enjoy

Thank you guys for your input. I really do love the stone, its great. Its my first real big purchase so I guess I was just second guessing myself. With all the info out there, and the occassional less than honest salesperson, it can become a complicated process. Thanks for eveything though. I appreciate it!

I think it sounds like a very good make. Enjoy!
