Hey Guys,

This is my first post. I am a 39yo career bachelor. My time has come, and I need a nice sparkler to say it aloud.

I have been looking for 1.5+ct, AGS000, H-A, G, VS1 or VS2, NoF, Tiffany 4-prong Platinum, avail by 12/20/05, under $20K:

In no particular order:
1. http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_56ct_f_vs2_h%26a.htm. What do you guys think of the Stuller Tiffany Platinum 4-prong?
2. http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_505ct_f_vs1_h%26a.htm
3. http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-2068570.htm
4. http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1911784.htm
5. http://www.mondera.com/diamonds/product.asp?mscssid=8DF6UEB088SA8HKR6NXF202H2A5V3TR7&partno=417744
6. http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=513512

Which one would you guys pick if it were your money? I need to buy today or tomorrow, and your vote will weigh HEAVILY in my final decision. I appreciate your help tremendously!

I will post pictures in a few weeks so you can see my choice in its setting!

hey hemicharger

welcome to ps and congratulations on your upcoming engagement.

the choice was easy for me.. http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-2068570.htm

that is obviously a brand new stone as the grading report is from 28 nov. even if you are unsure which stone you want to go with, i would put it on hold. it is a great package.

belle''s right this stone will be amazing!! Can''t go wrong with that one!! Congrats on your upcoming engagement!!

I''d concur and select the same stone: #3......
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-2068570.htm

#1 and #5 are both deeper than I personally prefer, which costs on diameter. I don''t care for the crown/pav angle combo on #6. #2 and #4 are F stones, so they carry the premium for that colorless range, and I personally don''t think those represent as much value for the money as #3.

I would buy the last one from James Allen if I were spending my money. It''s larger than the other ones, and looks like it could be a great diamond. I would have them send me the idealscope image and a picture of the stone.

Doesn't anyone else want to say "20k? Why not skip the H&A and get a 2ct stone?" Anyone, anyone?

If I knew ANYTHING about rounds I might say it. But I don't. So

lol Was just thinking, "Holy cow! I''d buy a bigger diamond for that kind of money!" Anyway, I''m sure you''ll get an awesome rock. I loved working with WF on mine. And I love their upgrade policy. :)

Thank you so much for your votes! So far, WhiteFlash is in the the running:
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-2068570.htm.

Idealscope, AGS reports and Certs on WhiteFlash stone. I posted them at:
http://groups.msn.com/Hemicharger69/diamonds.msnw

I gotta say, I was tempted to go with a bigger stone, but I just can''t handle all this inclusions (SI2, SI1). They just bother me!

I''m glad I got your opinions because I was initially leaning towards Gold Old Gold (#1 above)

Not enough votes for me to be certain yet. Please give me your vote!

What's about this one

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1829026.htm

It's an 1.8ct H VS1 Whiteflash Expert Selection? Less on the inclusion front - but bigger! (can you tell where my sleazy priorities lie?)

# 3's dimensions are 7.43-7.46 X4.53
This one is 7.92-7.95 X 4.79 ... that's a .5 difference almost
(I clarify that I'm no expert - just a common size ho)

It's tempting. If I were to raise my budget, however, I would tempted to buy this one:

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1911785.htm

or this one

http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_868ct_g_vvs1_h%26a.htm

But, I ask myself, how much bigger is a 1.7-1.8ct versus 1.5 for $8K more? Yes, eight thousand dollars.
An update: I am stil torn between these 3 stones:

haha deco my mind twin...YES. with $20k? holy everlovin...I could do alot with that and a diamond.
31.gif
Oh and wow that is a sweet 2c stone. where''s the drool icon. that''s more my speed.
9.gif

if i only had to choose from those top choices, i''d choose the WF one that belle and al chose too just because i don''t believe in paying for F color...G would be just fine and not even a whit of difference in visibility IMO. i really love that james allen size but i don''t love the depth or the crown angle for MY parameters...but i''m sure it will be a lovely stone. so if choosing for size and a possibly ideal cut, james allen but the one with the visibly best package all in one with IS and images already there etc the WF one because it''s got great #''s but it''s also a G so you are not overpaying for color.

It's tempting. If I were to raise my budget, however, I would tempted to buy this one:

It would be the 2cts at Wink's or any other 2cts that measures up. I am not sure if smaller increments from 1.5cts... There were upgrades for ssmaller steps (Mara's?) and some gave up because the difference was not enough.

An update: I am still torn between these 3 stones:
For clarity, the three above are - noting what seems to still make a sensible difference between them:

F-VS2, 1.5 cts, 7.4mm, 17.6k

G-VS1, 1.5 cts, 7.4mm, 16k

H-VS2, 1.7 cts, 7.7mm, 15.5k

I don't think the cut would tell these apart - they are pretty darn perfect. Perhaps the H would look a hair larger but not a whole bunch (and is the cheapest!) - just enough to tell which is what if the three darlings would be lined up. 'F' sounds tempting but I might mistake it for the G if they were both in front of me...

How do you come with these hard ones!?
31.gif

And then there was 2cts, H-VS2 Infinity H&A... 23k or so.

If it may help to just cut the Gordian knot... would you F-SI1? There are two HERE - a tad less than those above. Honestly, I was hoping for 2 cts SI1, but there isn't any on the list. Unless... someone finds a 2 carat GIA graded F-G/SI1 with top finish and great pattern for you
11.gif
With AGS paper, this one may mean an upgrade before the fact
9.gif
(like this).

Well, it is dangerous to say "what if I did increase that budget" around here...

Anyway, returning to the mission of spending 15k on a perfect 1.5-ish H&A diamond
12.gif
, It was mostly THIS that made me write the post:

1.6cts, F/SI1 a hair less than 15k.

Is there a little wiggle room in the $20K budget. If so, Wink Jones has a 2 carat G VS2 H&A cut by Infinity Diamonds for $23,310.00 I bet that''s one awesome stone. Here''s the link.

Good Luck and Mazel Tov!!!

I''m sure it''s going to be gorgeous. Please post pics of the finished ring and happy fiance. We all love to drool.

I''m not diamond expert, just a girl that loves ''em. My vote is for this one! Although, it don''t think it was in the running.
