yes it is. it is a ''square emerald cut'' sometimes known as an ''asscher''.

the ''square'' part of the emerald cut makes it an ''asscher''. if it is is more rectangular in shape, it is a regular emerald cut.
 
actually, judging by the center portion of the stones in your first pic, that ring looks more like it has regular emerald cuts (slightly rectangular), while the stones in the second ring look more like square emerald cuts (''asschers'').
either way, you are right. they are both emerald cuts but the more square one (square emerald) could be called ''asscher'' cut.
