I''m trying to pick a princess cut for an Ering and looking to decide in the next couple days. I''m a complete newbie, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I''m looking in the 5K price range and would like to get in the 1.2-1.3 carat range princess cut. Same as just about everyone, I want it to be eye clean and have as much brilliance/color as possible. Here''s the one''s I''ve been looking at....any feedback would help. I''m leaning towards the first 2...maybe the first one, but I can''t figure why the 1.27 carat is cheaper than the 1.2 carat, when they have the same color, clarity, cut, symetry, and polish grades.

Thanks!!!!

The reason it''s cheaper is probably that it isn''t as nicely cut. The problem with buying a fancy cut diamond from a drop shipper like Adiamor is that you miss out on examining the stone with pictures and ASET images, which is what can tell you if a diamond is well cut. A non-well cut diamond just won''t sparkle well, regardless of what color or clarity it is.

I personally would stick to buying from vendors who can and will provide you pictures. Winfield''s Jewelers (Wink''s store), Whiteflash, Good Old Gold, all these places can provide you with pictures which are essential for buying fancies.

I agree with everything neat said. You want a well cut stone first and foremost, that''s what makes the stone. However, you pay for that, so to stay in budget, you may have to go down in size and/or color/clarity a bit. I had a look around, but didn''t find a whole lot in the inventories right now. I did find this one. And you could always contact one of the vendors that gives good info and inspects the stones first and have them look for something in your range.
