Please let me know what is the different in pintpoint and feather in diamonds ? I have a GIA stone and it have feather in it. Will it loose it value in the stone itself? Thanks

Welcome to PS.

Feathers and pinpoints as you probably know are different types of inclusion. A feather won't downgrade your diamond valuewise necessarily - what is the clarity grade? Unless a diamond is damaged and the clarity grade alters, your GIA grading should be good along with colour and not affect the value of it. However diamonds are not a good investment and the best way to preserve it if you want to sell to get another diamond, is to use a vendor with a trade in policy. Reselling on the secondary market, you are often lucky to get back 50% of what you paid.

Also as to feathers being a problem, it depends on the clarity grade and placement, for example a diamond with a VS1 feather is going to be tiny and not likely to be a problem, an I1 with a feather on the girdle might be. Many variables here.
