Hello,

I purchased this diamond from James Allen in 18K gold halo setting. Diamond looks amazing and has a great sparkle to it. It is also eye clean.

My only concern is if there is something I am not taking into account while evaluating this diamond. Comparable diamonds are over $2000 more expensive. Why is this diamond so cheap as compared to others? Did I just get lucky or am I missing something here? Thank you in advance for your expert advise :)

There's a significant price jump at 1.50 ct - you snuck in just under it at 1.49 ct. That may explain it -

Ks are usually significantly less expensive than J.

it is also rectangular, which could be lowering the price, there is less demand for rectangular than square shaped.

and it is a warmer color on the color grading scale ??

Even though it is a K, it visually looks a lot like J.

I paid $4400 for it. I was just wondering if I got the best bang for my buck or if there are better alternatives out there between $4-5K range.

Thank you for everyone's feedback so far!

I think you did pretty good for your dollar :$$):

So it boils down to Round Ideal-cut, J-color, SI1-clarity, Round, 1.31-carat Diamond for $5850 (Eye clean and has an amazing sparkle) or Princess Cut 1.49 Carat K Color VS1 for $4550. Which in your opinion will hold its value and turn out to be a better investment over time? Thank you!
