Hi all,

I''ve been working with a jeweler who''s a family friend on buying a stone. He brought this stone to my attention:

round cut
7.4 - 7.48 x 4.31 mm
1.43 carat
Depth: 57.9%
Table: 60%
Polish/Symmetry: Excellent
VVS1
F

Price: $16,800

I saw it in person, it looks very nice, looks larger than 1.43 due to its large table. I''ve been reading that having a table larger than the depth isn''t good. I''ve attached the cert. Can anyone help tell me if this is a good stone? I have another one that i''ll post in another thread.

Thanks. I REALLY appreciate it.

Welcome.

The proportions are outside of ideal range with the depth and large table, but if it looks good to you then it is worthy of consideration! I would say to try to compare it to similar AGS0 and GIA EX cut graded diamonds to make sure you like the look of it compared to those with more predictable proportions. Also we really cannot judge without the crown and pavillion angles, as it is a pre cut graded report, see if the vendor can run a Sarin on the diamond, which will give these figures. It might look better to the eyes than it does on paper, but do try to compare it with others to make sure it is what you want. Also did you want such a high colour and clarity? You can drop the clarity and colour considerably if you wish, and save money and perhaps go larger still if you want, just letting you know your options! Look at as many well cut diamonds as you can if possible, to get a feel for the various ' personalities' before you commit. Cut is the most important component of a diamond's beauty, but above all, what is beautiful to you is what matters most!
