Which stone would you pick (stone #1 on the left and stone #2 on the right) if either? Both are princess cut diamonds. The price is the same. I had my heart set on an H colored, VS2 or SI1 eyeclean stone in the 1.2 carat range, but there are no stones that meet those criteria with an ideal cut that were available. My biggest worry with the stones is that the I color won't be white face up and that I am paying for VS1 clarity when in fact I can go down to VS2 or SI1 clarity and save some money. Part of me says to get one of the two stones above and part of me says wait for the stone I had my heart set on. HELP!!!

I think I slightly favor the one on the left. The color issue is difficult. When were you planning to propose?

I agree with you diamondseeker2006 that the stone on the left is better. I'm still concerned about the color. I think I'm going to try to go to a local jewelry store to see if I can tell the difference between an H colored stone and an I colored stone.

That's a great idea. Just be sure to compare princesses - other shapes can show colour face-up differently, and walk around the store in different types of lights and see if any differences are clearer in some types of lights.

GOG has a 1.2 H VS1 Solasfera of similar faceting style - it's pricier though, $8.4k, don't know if there would be wire transfer discounts and such

Thanks Yssie. The stones in this post are about $1,000 cheaper than the one at Good Old Gold. I do agree that looking at the stones in different lighting is the best idea. Thanks for all of your help.
