I made another post but I think it might have been too wordy for anyone to read.

Pic #1 -
Cartier Declaration D''amour. I like the style of this ring. It was the inspiration for the design I am working on.

Pic#2 -

This is where the design stage currently is. If you notice the shank/shaft less square with rounded corners. It is more ''round''.

The band has it sits is 3mm across with 3 rows of micro-pave.
Center Stone: 1.215 - 6.85 mm across

Questions:

- Do you think squaring the shank/band and radii would add structure and elegance to this ring?

-Do you think leaving it like it is complements that fluidity of the lines?

Any assistance opinions are greatly appreciated. Please toss out anything you''d like...the good, the bad and the ugly. I won''t be offended.

Inspiration for my design.

Current status of the design.

You'll note where it looks rounded in contrast to the first image.

nothing?

I think that if you are going to pave it, then it needs to be rounded as the CADs show. If it was squared, then looking at it from a tilt angle, as the wearer will see it almost all the time on her hand, all she would see is the edge of the squared shank and the sides of the pave. This way when she looks at it she will see the diamonds on the shank. I actually think it would look odd with a squared shank and pave only on the top plane.

I agree with DD - definitely leave the design as is. 3 rows of micropave in a flat, squared shank will look too industrial and will lose the visual depth that the curved design has.

I agree with DD as well. Though I have to say, it might be smashing to just have the setting you like made pretty close to as it and then getting a pave band...

I agree. Pave is not very practical for daily wear and it limits the possibilities for a wedding band to one that matches. I ove the original! I like a nice "chunky" ring, gives good finger presence.

Brilliant!

Thanks for the ''view from the wearer'' perspective. That is what I was missing... (amongst other things)
Also, the ''industrial'' angle isn''t something I couldn''t imagine but understand what you mean.

I''m hoping for some other images shortly. I''ll have to make a decision shortly. I''ve been told I''m running out of time.

DD, Pancake, Bella...

You are welcome!

By the way, what type of lifestyle does your gf have? Again, I said it already, but pave is not for every woman.

As far as rings are concerned, she wouldn''t have difficulty accommodating a big, sparkly rock with pave next to it.

She has an office job, she''s not much of a gardener nor does she work with tools much. For the limited time she does spend doing any home projects or potentially threatening project to her ring, she''ll be able to remove it.
