Hey guys,

So I've been lurking around the last few weeks and saw some really good advice that has been given and thought I'd register and get some opinions on a few stones I've been eying for an e-ring for my soon-to-be fiancee.

Here are a couple I found at JA
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-VVS1-Premium-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1248321.asp
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-VVS1-Premium-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1265126.asp

The stone will be going into a platinum setting similar to this one
http://img.bluenile.com/is/image/bluenile/-diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum-/setting_template_main?$375_315$&$diam_shape=is{bluenile/main_PR_standard_100}&$diam_position=-18,-70&$ring_position=0,0&$ring_sku=is{bluenile/DM15503600_setmain}

Really I'm looking for a princess cut stone between 1.1 and 1.25 ct that will look good in the setting with a price for under 6k preferably closer to 5k.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Chris

the 1.10 is the nicer of those two. ask for an ASET image.

My best guess:

Number 1: 7.5/10
Number 2: 7.5/10

Tables are a bit larger than I'd like to see in a top-end Princess cut.

I'd say that you could easily drop to VS clarity if you want to save some money and still get an eye clean stone.

Thanks for the quick replies and assessments

What table should I really be looking for? 68-72% or so?

Also, do you know of other sites I can look to in order to find a good stone given my budget. So far I''d looked at bluenile and JA.

Here''s another couple I found at whiteflash (never heard of this dealer before but I''ve seen it mentioned a few times on this forum)

http://www.whiteflash.com/princess/Princess-cut-diamond-2220808.htm#

how do these compare the the first 2?

Thanks for the help you guys are great, I''ll hang up and listen.

Best guess:
Number1 : 8.5/10
Number2: 8/10
Number3: 7.5/10

A perfect princess would include:

Table in mid-high 60's.
Depth in high 60's or low 70's.
Table slightly less than depth.
Not too flat crown.

More chevrons on the pavilion mean more small flashes of light.
Less chevrons give fewer flashes but the flashes are larger.

Ask for some images.

Need images on the whiteflash stones in order to make any judgement. I agree with Julie that the 1.10 is the nicer of the two from James Allen, but it isn''t a real top cut.

Some other options on stones that a quick search turned up

1.06 F VS2--beautifully cut--(wire price is PS discount, so right at $6K)

1.30 I VS2--also beautifully cut, if you are OK with I color--will still face up very white

I really do appreciate everyone''s help. Thanks for some good info.

Just talked to the people at WF earlier this PM and she''s going to look for a few diamonds and see if she can find anything else.

Jetks, thanks for those other 2 options, definitely some beautiful diamonds.

Just one more for you guys to critique based solely on specs now, awaiting imaging and such from WF but I used the info you gave me, FB, to find one similar to your description

I realize I can''t really ask for true evals of WF diamonds without first getting some images, so my apologies in the mean time.

I''d guess 9/10.

Beware of low crown height in the smaller tabled princess cuts. Ideal would be 10-14% crown.
