I am celebrating my 30th birthday in a few months and my husband has given me the option of upgrading my e-ring or purchasing another piece of jewelry. I was never completely happy with my e-ring. I have a three stone (round) platinum low setting. The center is 1.67 (H, VS1) and the side stones total 1.4 (G, VS1). They are about .7 each. I am not sure if I would be happier just enlarging the stones but keeping the same design or scrapping the design and starting over. I have a eternity band that totals in weight of 4.25. I absolutely love the band and wear it on the same finger as the e-ring. In looking at new e-rings, I am realizing that if I want to continue to wear it on the same hand, I will probably need to stick with the same design.
Can anyone give me any help or guidance here? I have a budget of $12,000 on the upgrade. If I stick with the same design, about how much bigger would 12,000 give me on the center and side stones? Another option would be to add micropave to the original stones. I believe the original ring cost $16,000 four years ago. The designer was a client of my husband''s and he would be willing to take the original stones back if I upgrade.
