I know the top two important things, but could use some serious help with the details. I know 1) Ring Setting and 2) Approximate Diamond Specs
1) After 84 hours on-line and looking at 7,263 engagement ring settings from A. Jaffe to Yuri Ichihashi and every letter in-between, I have finally found the engagement ring for my girlfriend. The winner is: TACORI!!! style 2577
2) I want the diamond to be a 1.8-2.0ct color G or H, eye clean, with an ideal to very good cut. I have no preference on culet; however, the stone needs to have medium to strong blue fluorescence. My girl for some reason absolutely loves the tinge of blue given off. (Note: I am confident that it is the fluorescence she likes and not just that she was looking at a D color.)
Here are the top three items where I need help before I can order the ring.
1) Vendor??? How do I find a reputable vendor that I can purchase the diamond and ring together from and get the most ring for my money. (Note: I understand that Tacori settings can not be sold for less than list price, but that companies will give a great package price [setting plus stone], effectively using some of the profit from the setting to partially subsidize the diamond.) Any suggestions on an authorized Tacori dealer that I should engage to purchase a diamond from and get this ring finalized? I was going to just pick my stone and have that company make the ring, but then I started wondering about the complexities since I am getting a designer setting that has a minimum list price and if the company I buy the stone from needs to be a Tacori dealer?
2) Diamond??? Specifically, I am curious about experts’ reaction to my medium to strong blue fluorescence callout??? In this setting, will it look weird if the center diamond is giving off a slight blue fluorescence with the other diamonds so close? I don’t think this will be an issue at all; however, if the consensus on this board is that I am insane going with a strong fluorescence stone in this setting, I will reconsider.
3) Should I get the ring customized? I want a 1.8-2.0 ct stone; however, the ring is designed for a 7.5mm round stone (can accommodate a range of 6.7-7.7mm center stone.) This seems to be more of a 1.5-1.7ct stone, which is slightly smaller than what I wanted. I am thinking of having Tacori customize this ring to accommodate a slightly larger stone and also change the ring so that the diamond is mounted slightly lower, resulting in a ring that sits a little more flush on the hand. Tacori 2577 is the ring for me, but I do prefer how the diamond on the Tiffany ring is set slightly lower (see below pict). Any thoughts on if I should get this minor customization done, or if I should just go with their standard 2577 RD7.5 design?
The top is soon to be my Ring --> Tacori Contemporary Crescent Silhouette Collection: Style no.2577RD75
The bottom ring is an alternate Tiffany design. Although I prefer the Tacori for its uniqueness, I do like the fack that the Tiffany diamond sits very low resulting in a ring with less verticle height.
Thanks for all the help! Ideally, I would like to propose in early September, but I can push this back if the ring is not yet done.
