Hi Chickies!!!
It''s been so long but here I am! I hope you are well and wonderful & exciting things are happening on the forum!
My 1 year anniversary is coming up and the bling fairy is in town! That''s right...hubby gave me his blessing to create an eternity band to celebrate our anniversary. I am currently working with ERD and we are looking at 13 stones - round eternity with a total of 6.5ctw with 0.5 diamonds. 5.5 ring size in Platinum. SOOO EXCITED! I would love to hear from other Eternity band owners. I''m having a hard time deciding between a shared prong (less metal) versus 4 prong (more secure) setting. I''m leaning towards a 4 prong since I will be wearing the setting daily instead of my E-Ring (saving the E-ring for weekends and best...it would be easier for my work setup). I tried on a 5.4ctw shared prong eternity today and it was surprisingly comfortable. I''ve attached 3 beautiful ring designs that took my breath away...my inspiration for things to come!

They''re all absolutely beautiful: I''d vote 4 prongs out of an abstract sense that it''s safer, but I''ve no experience with this kind of setting, alas. Also, should you ever want to stack in the future, it seems like there''s less chance of it eating away at other rings with 4 prongs .... Hopefully some of the inspirations will weigh in!

Thanks guys - I will check in again tom.

Ries, thank you for the kind words about my ring! I had it made many years ago, long before I found PS, and I have to say that I think the other two designs you posted are more "elegant" that mine and if I were to do it all again I would pick something a bit more "swoopy". Here are a couple of styles that I really love. I think this first one is a Sasha Primak design but I can''t get on the website to confirm (my connection keeps timing out... )

Demelza and Kcoursolle also have GORGEOUS bands but for some reason I can''t attach pics. Here are threads though:

I just realized I never addressed your question about shared prong vs. four prong. I chose the shared prong because I wanted as little metal as possible showing, and IRL you really notice no metal on my ring, which I love. That being said I did lose a stone at one point, so maybe a four prong design would be a better choice. Honestly though if you''re going to wear this ring a lot don''t be surprised if you pop a diamond every now and then even with the four prong because the stones that are on the palm-side of your ring will indeed take a bit of a beating.

What an exciting project! I can''t wait to see your new ring!

But for square stones, the premise is the same. I am very happy with my ring--altho it took some getting "used" to as it is kind of "pokey"....

Good luck on your project--it looks wonderful!

cheers--Sharon

Hello Ries...

Congratulations on your anniversary, what a fun project to have on your hands.

I had so much fun having this ring made...from picking out the stones, figuring out the design, going back and forth between shapes (I almost went with emeralds). I went to my jeweler with a picture of Dee Jay''s ring and a Tiffany''s advertisement and we went from there. I was deciding between the uternity style and the shared prong because you can see more of the top of the stone with the shared prong. If you look at mine and Dee Jay''s you can see that her ring is more open at the top.

I do love this ring, I wear it daily, and so far knock-on-wood I haven''t had an problems with it. I can stack it and the other rings sit flush. The stones are suspended between the u and it''s so open at the bottom which makes it easy to clean and when the sun/light hits it I have a little fireball on my finger. Whiteflash has cornered the market on their beautiful 5 stone u-style rings for a reason thanks to KCoursolle.

I also love Dem''s Sasha Primak''s 5 stone ring design which is stunning.

I don''t think you can go wrong.

Keep us posted.

Good to see you Ries, how is your baby pups? I hope he is doing well! I remember when you got married, goodness a year goes so fast!

Sweet, Ponytails, it’s so nice to hear from you all!

I do appreciate your recommendations and input so much.

Lorelei, my dog is still a devil yet the cutest little guy ever! His medical bills & bladder stone operations are costing us a fortune, but hey, who’s counting! (LOL!)

I was hoping to find more eternity band styles locally to get a feel for each style but have not been able to find a store with different styles, let alone over 5.5ctw. I guess we''re not that fancy in Canada! (LOL!)

I love the Daniel K style but would like 4 prongs, yet not sure if it will hurt my neighboring fingers? I don’t know about you gals but once my hubby actually said YES I started panicking…I mean, NOW I’m suppose to decide on a style! Ha ha ha! It is such a funny feeling…I’m all…OH YEAH, I KNOW MY DIAMOND STUFF but oh boy tell me I have free range and I completely go DOPE face!!!

If the Birks shared prong/basket style felt comfortable, do you guys think that a 4-prong Daniel K would feel as comfortable or will the extra metal feel weird?

Roppongi, tell me about your beautiful baby! Comfi? I adore the open profile… DROOL!

Canuk-gal, what a beauty! LOVE LOVE the side profile. YUMMY Asschers!

Dee-Jay, What I love about your setting is the No metal top appearance. It''s ALL ABOUT THE DIAMONDS. Stunning!
The Swoopy Ring is gorgeous, do you have any pictures of round diamonds with swoopy-goodness?

Perhaps the following will help…

I often carry packages from our Shipping Department, and have the silly habit of removing my set at the beginning of each shift…so needless to say I worry about misplacing my rings ALL THE TIME!
Not to mention the occasional stares I get from friends/relatives and Co. employees…I can see their minds working. The kind of look that says: “Are they having problems…and is that why she’s not wearing her ring” look. It is for this reason that I''ve decided to ask my hub. for a stand-in ring. Durability is very important to me (within reason). I also feel that if I’m paying a custom fee for the ring design so I should probably try to have something interesting made…maybe take advantage of the opportunity to have a different style of eternity. SO yes, I feel like I’m going crazy!

I will be speaking with Mark, Monday morning to discuss the ring design & to get his opinion on the shared prong versus 4-prong thing…

BTW-The stones will be round.

this is pretty! oh boy so many-many choices...

I really like that last trellis one!

All I have to say is that I''m super excited to see how your project turns out!!!!!!! I''m a little biased, but I personally like the shared prong look even if it is a little less secure, that''s what in surance is for. I love the sasha primak band and also the daniel k u eternity the best. If I knew about the sasha primak setting when I had my band made a long time ago I would have been hard pressed to make a decision between the two.

Hi there,

The renderings are in from ERD! In the end Mark and I decided to focus on security rather than fanciness and I must admit that I feel so much better already! The style fits my lifestyle and I think overall it will be beautiful. What''s not to love about diamonds? hee-hee!

Ries, that is gorgeous - do you mind sharing your finger size and the tcw? :)

eta: DOH! I missed it - I see now 6.5 tcw? I saw the 5+ mentioned once or twice and wondered what you finally ended up with. RIng size about a 6 then?

Ries that is amazing! I can''t wait to see how it turns out - you''d better post pics!!

So far so good - minor stress here and there but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! RSVPs are slowly starting to come in, so it is real now!

Honestly, I think you picked an incredible setting for the ring. I love that it is the ''sturdier'' choice but also is quite dainty so as to allow a lot of light around the stones (and make it easier to clean!).

PLUS it will have an interesting side view (which I think is a great thing!).

Hope you and your hubby are doing well and happy anniversary!

WOW!!! That is going to be some ring! I can''t wait to see it finished! Gorgeous!!!
