Hi everyone

Long time lurker, first time poster. Have been researching alot on this site which has been very helpful to me so far.

Have been looking around for a e-ring and have narrowed it down to a 0.59ct diamond with medium blue flourescence (stats below and GCAL report attached) and Cathedral Pavé Diamond Engagement Ring in 18k White Gold 1/4 ct. tw. (#11776) from BN and was hoping to get some opinions whether they will match.

Diamond details
Carat weight: 0.59
Cut: Signature Ideal
Color: I
Clarity: VS1
Depth %: 61.6%
Table %: 55%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Medium Blue
Measurements: 5.42 x 5.39 x 3.33 mm

Will cost me around $2400all up (which i know is small compared to some of the posts in this forum!) and my partner has been saying she would prefer the ring to be under 2k and this would be close enough to fit the bill. She is quite slim and petite (around 100pounds) - and hence why i dont think ill need anything larger than .60ct diamond

I realise that the BN side diamonds on the Cathedral Pavé Diamond ring are I colour (which is the same as my diamond even though it has a medium blue flourescence). Will this make my diamond not look as impressive? Any thoughts on the combination of diamond and ring would be appreciated.

I agree. You did great!

Thanks guys!

but shame that diamond has gone now  Looks like someone bought it cos i cant find it on BN anymore

Was going to ask if the diamond was worth it especially for a H&A diamond (as all BN signature diamonds are H&A i assume) since its not a huge diamond

Will keep looking :blackeye:

BN diamonds are advertised as H&A I believe but there is no hearts image to confirm if they are true H&A or not. if you are looking for H&A I would go with a vendor who provides hearts image

wow - I was told by BN consultant that all BN signature ideal diamonds are H&A

So that is not the case?

The good thing about this size is that they are easily replaceable. Here you go. http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-ideal-cut-i-color-vs1-clarity_LD01718816

Thanks Julie - but the diamond was a signature idea (which i thought was a H&A?) diamond :(

And on BN, the rest of the signature ideal cuts with a medium blue or slight blue flourescence are all vvs1 or vvs2 with the most similar to the one i was after being $300+ more

Hi eringbuyer,

In my opinion, it is anyone's guess whether these diamonds ARE actually hearts and arrows, BN do not supply clear and detailed images to prove this claim. That is not to say they can't be very nice diamonds because of course that could be the case, but whether they are in fact cut to h&a standards we just don't know without proper information. My belief is if anyone is touting a stone as a h&a cut, then it needs to be proved with proper images of both hearts and arrows. So called h&a diamonds can vary between ones that show clearly distorted hearts and arrows, ones that show some reasonable hearts and arrows patterning to some that might be just a little ' off.' Also as h&a diamonds carry a premium, make sure you are getting what you pay for is my belief, in other words, a so called h&a diamond must have images which prove it is in fact cut to expected h&a standards.

Here is some further reading in the link below.

Best I could do in your price range. You can't tell H&A from non-H&A anyway. Besides, you would save a couple hundred...

My FI bought my ering diamond from BN. A little tip..."signature ideal" is just that - their signature. There are plenty of beautiful diamonds available in their 'ideal' category. We used the HCA tool to narrow down the options/weed out the lesser cuts and got a great stone in about the same size (.63). It sparkles more than any other diamond I've ever seen and I get compliments on it all the time. Good luck! ::)

Here is an H&A stone...not sure what price range you were looking at...not sure if JA provides H&A images either.
WOuld need to make sure it is eye-clean to your standards.

Edit...another option...I guess JA does provide H&A image. You would need to call and request it
along with idealscope image.

Edit - ask vendor to put diamonds on hold if you are interested.

Thanks everyone!

Tammy - that is great advice. For some reason I was obsessing about BN's signature series and assumed there were all H&A diamonds even though now cant be sure since they dont provide the proper images. Will look at ideal cuts now - since there is quite a premium for the signature range which is no longer justified for me. Do you mind if I ask if 0.63cts looks big enough? Sounds like you couldnt be happier with your ring.

Hi again

ive been looking around since another diamond after the one i had me eyes set on was purchased by someoene else...

Have narrowed it down to these 3 - these are only ideal cuts and have good scores on the HCA (although diamond no 1 had only a very good scintallation where the other 2 had excellent). All similar sizes and prices - which one would you choose? Im swaying towards 2 cos it looks more symmetrical and has less green parts

Any assistance greatly appreciated

anyone? any help appreciated! :saint:

All look fine.

All will perform slightly differently IRL - whether you see the differences and whether they matter to you is a different question. There appears to be nothing *wrong* with any of them - no red flags.

I would, however, certainly recommend against trying to select solely by comparing the minutiae of the ASET simulations printed on the reports - I posted in this thread on the same topic.

Post size and clarity, and other details - or just crop and paste the proportions plots. Are they all from the same vendor? Is it BN, or can the vendor provide other info, pics, professional opinion? Based on all that info pick one to have shipped out to inspect in-person, see if you like what you see - that's the most important thing!
