In my ongoing diamond search i come across a diamond listed with the diamondexchange and its has a HRD certification. The info proided is a bit different then what GIA and AGS provide so i could use some expert help on this one.
Here is all the info from the Cert:
Brilliant cut
0.79 ct
VS2
colour: rare white (G)
flouresence: nil
measurements: 5.93mm x 6.00mm x 3.64mm
proportions: very good (top HRD rating)
girdle: medium 3% faceted
culte: pointed
table width: 58%
crown height: 15.0%
pavillion depth: 43.0%
finish grade: very good (top HRD rating)
comments: hearts & arrows
price is approx $2900 USD
This is what i have been able to come up with:
The crown heigth, pav. depth and table all rank 1A on the AGA cut grading system.
doing some quick math, i came up with the total depth using (5.93+6.0)/2 = 5.965, 3.64/5.965*100=61.02
total depth % = 61.02 (1A)
I then ran all these numbers in the HCA and got a score of 2.1 VG/EX/VG/VG. The score is alright, but because we are using % and not angles its not quite as precise and i would expect to see a better score when using the angles.
I have this diamond placed on hold for me and would like to hear the experts opinions before i go any further.
Also, how accurate is the HRD cert versus if stone was cert''d by either GIA or AGS?
thanks in advance!
