Cut grade affected by brillianteering.

anyone?

From specs it looks good but I am not sure of what that term brillianteering means. From what I read, quite suspicious of its effect on light performance. http://lgdl.gia.edu/pdfs/estimating_painitng.pdf

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can answer that.

I see what you mean. though "Paniting" doesnt seem to fit the term used in the comments. I mean i saw the stone in person it looked great but your right im not sure what that means??? ANyone??

Cut grade affected by brillianteering means it has painting or digging.
Without knowing how much its hard to say what is what with it.
That combo does not need it and likely looks better without it but without knowing how much and which it has no one can tell you for sure.

In other words without an Ideal-scope or ASET image we cant help you much long distance other than if you give us your budget see if we can find something with better specs for the same or less money.

well even with the given specs thats what im looking for arounda 1.36
he quoted me at $8400 for that particular stone

Anyone eveer deal with this brillinating term thats being used on this particualr diamond?
what should i look for when i see it again on friday.
it looked great didnt notcie anything but any advice owuld be great

Hi Surfcali365,

Glad to hear you found something. I haven't heard of that term either, but it seems like GIA added it back in 2006, according this link http://www.gia.edu/newsroom/608/26163/news_release_details.cfm

It appears that something is done to the diamond (beyond the normal cutting and polishing), to make it perform better than the cut.

Here is an old pricescope thread that i found that talks about it.

Scroll down to where Garry has a aset image of one that is painted.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/gia-brillianteering-of-the-half-facets.45748/

Experts... how would that affect the price of the diamond?

EDIT: found this pdf from GIA. However it's very technical and i'm still not sure what to think of these diamonds. http://www.diamondcut.gia.edu/pdf/6_05_RDR_pg239_243pdf.pdf

As Storm mentioned, the only way to try to assess is to get an ASET/IS pics.
