Hi everyone,

I got married three years ago when both of my husband and I did not have a good job, so my husband got me a ring for $2300 from Whiteflash. Thanks to everyone on this website that he picked me a nice ring with that mount of money. Three years later, now we both have a good job and earn very good income, so I am considering upgrading my ring. Should I ask my husband pay for it? (In case you wonder, we have a share account but each of us also has a personal account).I have money saved and can afford to pay for the upgrade, but I would like him to pay for it. Am I asking too much from him? Or should I just go ahead and pay with my own money? The diamond that I''m looking to change is this one from Whiteflash, http://www.whiteflash.com/princess/Princess-cut-diamond-1087178.htm. It''s about 2000 more that I need to pay. Also, is this a good diamond for its price?

Thanks so much in advance for any of your inputs.

I think you need to talk to him about it and see how he feels. I don''t think it''s fair for you to force him to pay for it, you need to make a decision jointly about how to spend your money. Unless he wants to make it a gift then it is another story.

Hello,

It really depends on how you and your husband work things.
My husband and I just combine everything together but I too have my own money saved up.I think that''s important because you never know what could happen. but if yall keep your finances apart then the two of you should work something out. My husband makes good money and I can afford not to work, but I have had jobs before. If I want something major like a diamond ring, then we talk about it. You said you can afford it yourself and that would be your choice but IMO,it would mean more coming from your husband. Maybe he could upgrade your ring and you could upgrade his?
Good Luck
