Need Help: Unhappy with e-ring reset

I posted a few months ago concerning flaws in my old engagement ring setting and after. Much consideration I decided to have ERD reset my ring (cast). I received my ring a few months ago and immediately loved it. I went ahead and placed an order for a matching wedding band which I liked it definitely didn't love. I wish I returned it immediately but instead I decided to keep it. Since receiving both rings I've probably only worn both together a handful of times.

Here are my issues/concerns that I'm seeking advice on.

1.) when I received my rings they always seemed tight to me but ERD confirmed they were the correct size. I recently went into a jewelry store (actually 3 stores) and had them sized to find out both were a 4.5 vs 5. ERD has nicely agreed to look at the rings and resize according. I personally find this frustrating especially since I reached out to confirm months ago. This is just an inconvenience now bc I'm not based in NYC

2.) when I placed my order for my wedding band I requested birthstones for myself, my husband and my son be placed on the inside. I received the ring without any birthstones. Again, ERD apologized and said this was a mistake and that they would make the change. Since I didn't love the ring I decided it wasn't worth it and figured it would be easier to sell without the birthstones in the future if I decided to do so. I should've sent the ring back altogether but I thought it would grow on me.

3.) I wear my e-ring maybe 2 days a week and I'm already noticing damage to the Miligrain on the halo as well as the band. Is this normal? The ring is 950 platinum (not sure what the other % is - my fault for not asking). I'm planning to send my rings back for resizing this week and I'm hoping ERDcan look at my ring and fix the areas of concern. I guess I'm just concerned if they agree to fix it will it just happen again and happen so quickly?

I'm so tempted to start all over but I hate to spend the $$ again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just feel really disappointed.

Hi,
I've been following your posts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you were searching for a non-matchy band.Did you end up not going with a non-matchy band after the poll, or before the poll? In this post, are you referring to a matching band that you chose after the non-matchy? I guess that I'm just trying to clarify if your unhappiness is due to the style, in addition to all the inconveniences that you are experiencing. I know that in one of your posts, you indicated that you didn't want your ring to look too antiquey--I guess that I'm wondering if you are unhappy with your entire set? Coming from a person who has upgraded her setting a gazzilion times, I can tell you that I'm yet to find a setting that I am 100% happy with and ready to call my forever setting. Being on PS just instigates this feeling for me. I'm always wondering how my stone would look with a different setting, as if it was a change of clothing. BTW, I'm not trying to undermine your concerns. From what I've heard, you are working with a reputable vendor who will make you happy, but I think you need to be clear on what is not making you happy to begin with. FWIW, I adore your reset!

Hi, I did recently post about getting a different wedding band that didn't match as much which was the exact reason I even visited a jewelry store in the first place. I went in looking to try on different wedding band styles only to discover my rings were not the size I requested. In fact, they're smaller than my original setting. This also made me see how the Miligrain was already starting to wear down in spots.

While I'm not 100% in love with my setting I do like it and I do believe that adding or replacing my current wedding band will make a huge difference. I don't think this is a forever setting but I won't change this ring until I can change my center stone which won't happen for a while. In the meantime, I'm just concerned with the way this ring is wearing because I do plan to have it for a while an don't want to add another ring to my set if my e-ring isn't going to standup.

Don't give up, it's frustrating but eventually you'll end up happy(or happier). These things cost too much to just settle! All I can add is that on the subject of sizing, I have so many size 4.5 rings and never have two fit the same! I sometimes think they just round to the closest diamond and that's why they are sometimes too small or too big for the actual 4.5 size.

I have worked with ERD on the upgrade of my wife's ER to a halo ring. You can find my post if you want.
I have had to send the ring back due to wear and tear of the ring, my wife can be pretty rugged on her jewelry. Each time ERD, now called BE has corrected the situation to my 100% satisfaction. I have worked with Chris, I am sure Mark is the same way, they want you to be 100% happy. I am sure they will rectify things so you are 100% pleased. Keep us posted.
Edit: The reason for the return is not BE's problem, but the wear and tear my wife has given the ring.

1. Different ring companies' sizes are slightly different. A half-size difference in mandrels is not unheard of. The point is not that you needed them to be made a 5 vs 4.5, the point is that you needed them to be made half a size larger than they are.

3. Metal wears down. That's just how it is.

WillyDiamond that's great to hear that ERD has been so accommodating and I have already started the conversation with them. The thing is I rarely wear my ring and when I do wear it I always remove it as soon as I get home. I know rings wear no matter what but I wouldn't expect this so quickly. I appreciate your input and I will definitely let you know what happens. If they're able to make the changes To my satisfaction I plan on adding a new wedding band.

Question - when you sent your wife's ring back how did you send it? UPS registered mail, Fed-Ex (I don't believe they insure enough), etc?

Btw I did check out your posts and your wife's ring is beautiful and I love how you proposed again. So romantic.

Hi JLFG,
I use USPS, Registered, Insured mail. It is slow, but it does get there. Your correct, FEDEX has low limits and I think they state they do not insure jewelry, even if I am wrong about that, they have low limits and don't take the chance. USPS does not have the sophisticated tracking system like FEDEX, but it does get there. Keep us posted and best of luck, I am confident they will make it right for you.
