No we didn't go back, he just got back to me about what stones were quoted. I wouldn't say he is shady at all though, he is answering all my questions and is very helpful actually. No pressure to buy anything from him at all. I told him to get prices with stones already GIA certified and that is what he is doing now. He said if we didn't like what he had in inventory than we could order any stone we wanted. Maybe I didn't make it that clear before but they are actually very friendly and very helpful, they seem to now have a better idea of what exactly I want. When I talked to him the first time I just told him to price it out with a couple options of a bigger stone, I didn't specifically tell him at that time that I wanted GIAGypsy|1337036927|3195191 said:You went back to the bad jeweler. *Sigh*
And now you are stuck. Didn't I tell you not to go back there? High pressure sales tactics and now he's taking advantage of you lady's ignorance.![]()
Put the diamond on hold. Ask him for a 3 day hold. Make a deal with her. That she comes on here, on Pricescope and spends there days with us on Rocky talky. If she still wants the uncertified diamond from the shady jeweler-- then you get it for her. But first she learns more about diamonds.

Okay. He may be friendly and helpful but that doesn't mean he's not shady. He trying to sell you an uncertified stone, still. And has he talked to you about cut, and how important it is?

There are a TON of them on James Allen for that price (and some lower).
How much is he selling that setting for, separately?
That is correct she wants the second setting which looks like a tension setting but is NOT a tension setting. As soon as he gets me some new quotes with GIA stones I will post up the numbers. Again, the second setting in my original post is the setting she loves and wantsdiamondseeker2006|1337039804|3195238 said:I want to be clear on something...didn't you say she is NOT looking for a tension set ring but one that has a wide band and low set diamond like the #2 picture? I thought that was what you said but people are still posting tension set rings. I want to be sure I understand.
We can't tell if the prices are crazy or not on the diamonds (or if they are well cut) until they give you the GIA report #. I am sure someone can make a ring like that easily. But let's deal with your current choices first. Her patience will pay off if she does not make you rush because our only objective is to see you buy a fine quality setting and diamond at a fair price.
I have been looking for it online but haven't found it. This place makes custom jewelry so maybe thy made this?? He did say though that if I wanted the .89 instead of 1/2 that is in there then he could have it ready on Friday so maybe they just use that setting as is. Will find out more when he gets back to meGypsy said:No, you can buy the stone elsewhere and have him order the setting in the right size for your stone, and then have the person you buy the stone from set it. Ask him what size centers that setting will accept. Usually they can be ordered in 1/2 3/4 and 1 carat at least.
If i got stone from james allen would i just have to send them the setting or i would have to do local? I have been looking for it online but haven't found it. I did but they said they would have to price it out but would most likely exceed budget. If you look at the link I posted before to the one she liked at jareds it looks to sit about the same height. Going to show her when I get homeChristina...|1337119063|3196035 said:Fantastic diamond choices! If you haven't shown your gf the setting though, I'd be a bit concerned because even if WF sets the stone as low as possible it's not going to look at all like the one she really likes. I know this is really hard.Did you talk with WF about the possibility of making the setting that she really likes?
