Need Help Setting My Yellow Sapphire

Can you post a picture of your sapphire? For me personally I''m not a huge fan of that particular LOGR setting- but that is because it is just not my style. Also, how do you plan on wearing this ring? A RHR? I''m guessing from the LOGR option you want something blingy- is there anything else that you are liking as well? I think that will help us determine other settings options.

Thanks for your comments SarahBear621.
Yes, I will be wearing this as a RHR, only on certain occasions.

I guess my main question is what size setting should I be searching for?
The sapphire dimensions are 8.39x6.31
Should I look for a 9x7 setting or a 8.5x6.5 setting?

Thank you for the help

A picture will be helpful as the outline of your stone also matters. A rounded cornered stone may not fit well into a straight edged emerald cut setting. I’m not sure if an 8.5 x 6.5 mm setting exists but you may want to consider an 8 x 6 mm setting since your stone is closer to that than 9 x 7 mm. Then again, without a picture or knowing the depth, you may have to use a 9 x 7 mm setting.

For a little extra money, around $30, you can probably have him custom make any "close in size" settings to the exact mm specifications of your gem.

I would definitely go with the double prong setting. The curved corners on any stone can not be held adequately with single prongs, since the stone can twist and fall out easily. Some jewelers get around the twisting problem by pressing the pavilion of the stone up against the upper rail of the setting to keep it from twisting. This does work, but then makes the stone impossible to clean well. Double prongs hold the corners very well and make cleaning fast and easy.

One other thing to bear in mind ........... your Sapphire is not perfectly symmetrical (nothing to worry about and many stones aren''t). So, if you get a bigger setting (i.e. 9x7), depending on the style of the setting etc., you may find you have an uneven slight airline around the gem. If you go for an 8x6 your stone will overlap the setting very slightly in some places but should fit well in others - the lack of perfect symmetry will be hidden better in the smaller setting I think.

As for double prongs, LOGR will make double prongs on a setting if you request them in lieu of single prongs.
