Hi All - My boyfriend & I recently started looking at diamonds & finally (I think) have found one that we both like. But there are sooo many questions that there doesn''t seem to ever be a right or wrong answer to. We are okay with Color, Clarity & Cut but are confused & concerned about Table size, Girdle, Depth & Culet. These are the specs on the one we are considering. Is the table/girdle/depth/culet okay? What price range should a stone like this this fall into? Any feedback you may have would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Carat : 3.56
Color : F
Clarity : VS2

Girdle: Thin - Medium faceted
Culet: Very Small
Measurements : 9.90 - 10.05 x 5.99
Depth : 60.1%
Table : 58%
Polish : Very good
Symmetry : Very good
Fluorescence : None

Do you have crown angle and pavilion angle on this stone? I think those would be necessary to determine how the table/depth are going to play out. WOW, 3.56 ct.......DROOL!!!!!!

Crown Angle is 31.5 & Pavillion Angle is 41.6

.

The stone appears a bit out of round, and I''m honestly not wild about the crown/pav angles.

I''m not sure what it would run, so can''t help there.

Yeah, that''s a very low crown. Here''s a cut chart to help guide you as far as the numbers. American Ideal Cut 1A would be the most desirable. I wouldn''t buy a stone that did not at least fit into 1B.

The AGA chart can help; so can the HCA, which gives this a 3...and you'd like to stay below 3, by and large. Like Diamondseeker...it's reasonable to use these tools for initial screening, and if doesn't make that preliminary cut...you might just consider avoiding falling in love with the options. Most diamonds have some appeal. You want to optimize that. Eliminating options with characteristics that predispose a diamond to not perform as well as they can is what these systems are designed to be about.

Thank you all so much for the input. We are definitely reconsidering purchasing this ring. And the search continues...
