Hi guys,

I have been reading the forums for a while getting info on everything. Anyways My girlfriend and I looked at rings a couple months ago around are area and she really liked this
ring

http://www.billbarnes.com/product.asp?product=14752

It is the Artcarved Rosina in Palladium.

Here are my concerns.

1. I was not satisfied with any of the prices that B&M''s would give me for a diamond.
2. Only a few B&M''s carried this ring and those that did would not satisfy my diamond requirements
3. I am concerned about buying palladium as I dont know much about it and could find little info on it.
4. Would it be possible to order this ring from one etailer and ship it to another such as whiteflash to have them put a diamond in?
5. If I order this ring online do I need to order the wedding band as well because they may not have it in the future?

Also she does not really care about the brand of the ring she just really likes this ones style. She did like a few other rings that had a similar look.
(many diamonds along the sides that you can actually see the sides on) If I could find one similar in style online that would be ok as well.

I looked at whiteflash online right now and while they have nice diamonds they do not have a ring that looks like this. I know there are many other e-tailers
that carry competitively priced diamonds and engagement rings but everyone seems to mention them the most.

I would like to spend around $2000 for the bands and the rest $7000 to $8000 on the diamond itself.

For the diamond she was interested in round cut 1 carat or more with good specs. I''m still not sure if it is worth more to pay for any special diamond either.

Welcome!

What I would do, is to email or call Whiteflash, and ask them about the setting - if they would be happy to set one of their diamonds in it. They are very helpful and I am sure they will give you the info you need. As to the diamond, as long as it is eyeclean to your standards and you choose a stone with a great cut, any colour or clarity if eyeclean will look stunning! With this in mind, you could consider G to H colour as this is a sweet spot for many, or even I and J colour too - many happy PSers with diamonds in these colour grades, but of course it is a personal preference. Clarity - some SI clarity diamonds can be eyeclean even at close scrutiny, so can be an excellent choice, but again it is a personal preference, and a case of mixing the " C's" according to your priority and budget.

You could also inquire with Whiteflash about making a similar, custom setting and band. This is what I did at least. I felt more comfortable buying both the stone and setting from the same place, so that if something were to go wrong I have a single point of contact to get it fixed.
