First, thanks Diamondseeker for replying to my earlier post. Unfortunately, the head cannot be changed b/c it is integrated. Does anyone else know if it is ok to place a 1ct stone into a 2ct head (that will be modified to fit)? Again, the head is integrated so it cannot be changed out, only modified. I am thinking about just ordering a new setting made to fit a one carat, but how do I know what it is made for? Most vendors that sell the plain Tiffany style settings w/ an integrated head don''t state what size diamond it is meant for or they give a broad range like .5 to 3 carats which makes me think it would be fine for my current jeweler to just modify the head afterall. Do most settings just have a generic head that can be modified to fit any stone? Please help...so confused. Thanks!

No, when they say they come in .5 to 3.0, that means the range of sizes they come in. There is such thing as a 1 carat head. My original diamond is in a plain tiffany setting with a one carat head. I had two settings for a 1.5 ct. stone. You don't want a 2 ct. head modified for a 1 ct. stone. I cannot understand why they don't just order you the right size!

That''s what I was thinking too, but they said they aren''t carrying the integrated head anymore only the kind with a peg set head. I think I am going to take your advice and insure the ringand just order the setting I want in the right size. I have found it at a few different websites, however it only never allows me to choose the correct size head. It just says "add to cart". In the description it says can fit sizes 1ct-3ct. How do I get one made for a one carat if I can''t select what size diamond it''s for? Geez, so complicated! And for just a plain Tiffany setting seems crazy! Should be the easiest thing to order.

Susie, I'd really recommend buying one locally so they will set your stone. You may have a lot of trouble finding anyone who'll set it if you bring in a diamond and the setting and buy nothing (other than a nominal setting fee). Just try another jeweler. Take a picture of what you like to make it easier.
