Hi guys,
I am a newbie with this site and with diamond too.
My plan is proposed my gf in this May. First of all, I thought it isn't too hard to pick out a diamond for the engagement ring. However, after doing some research, I get lost. Please give me advises because I need the ring before May.
My budget is under $17000. I am looking for a round diamond with color F or G, VVS2 and up, 1.6 carats and up.
I am looking on rarecarat.com now. I also look at the WF with ACA. However, the price same more expensive compared with another site. Moreover, I don't really understand about the table, depth, and angles of the diamond.
Please give me some advice.
Thank you for reading.

Any WF ACA will be excellent. You don't have to worry about anything else but color and clarity. I think you can easily stick with G color without issue, and go down to VS2/SI1 (eye-clean).

What setting do you want, and does 17K include setting costs or no?

Thank you for your quick reply lovedogs.
The diamond by itself can go up to 17k. My setting is a simple 18k white gold solitaire type.
As your advice, I will go down to VS2/1 and go with an ideal cut. It looks truly beautiful.

WF are great, and offer outstanding customer service. If you like a few of them and have trouble deciding, have them pull them from their vault and take IRL pictures or videos. Also, if you like one of them PUT IT ON HOLD because often lurkers come and "snatch" stones. Other vendors with quality like WF ACA is HP diamonds (Crafted by Infinity), or Brian Gavin's signature line.

Some HPD options:

Both those ACAs are beautiful stones. "A Cut Above" stones are Super Ideal Branded H&A stones. They are AGS000 and have Ideal light return.
Basically, they are pre-vetted with all the images (ASET, Idealscope, H&As) so that you know you are getting a well-cut stone that will have Ideal
light return. WF also has one of the best trade up policies in case you/she ever decide to go bigger.

What you guys think?

Ubi,
Please put the 1.606 G Vs2 on hold NOW. It’s a light sabre bomb and won’t be available for long. Even among Whiteflash ACAs, it’s at the top. Won’t cost anything for a short hold.

I think this would look gorgeous. I know your stone budget alone was $17000 but there's nothing wrong with saving money. ;))

* lots of PS'rs have this very setting. However, if your girl prefers 4 prongs, there are plenty to choose from.

Ooops. I see you wanted 18K gold.
