I've decided to get the engagement ring from Tiffany and I can't decide between these two:

1.06 G VS2 3EX - 6.62 - 6.64 x 3.96 mm, TOTAL DEPTH PERCENTAGE 59.7%, TABLE SIZE PERCENTAGE 60%
1.02 H VS2 3EX - 6.41 - 6.46 x 4.03 mm, TOTAL DEPTH PERCENTAGE 62.6%, TABLE SIZE PERCENTAGE 55%

The price for the H color is ~16% cheaper. Do you think color G and H makes a lot of difference? Is 60% table size too large? I care more about whether the diamond sparkles. Both have no flourescence. Thanks.

We need more stats. Is this a round diamond? What is the crown angle and pavillion angle.

Only for round diamonds:
Run the stats through here. This is a PASS/ FAIL test only. Anything under 2 is a pass. Anything over is a fail. If it's really cheap and it's over 2 and under 3 it may still be worth a look. https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca If it's under two: ask the vendor for an idealscope image. If they don't provide one, find a different vendor unless you don't care. IF it's under 3 and cheap, definitely get an idealscope image.

Thanks a lot for your link! Yes, both are round diamond. The HCA for the first one is 1.9 and the HCA for the second one is 2.3. I don't think Tiffany provides idealscope image. Maybe I should consider getting an i-scope?

Yes, get one. It's a great tool to evaluate your investment.

With a low HCA value, does that mean most likely the idealscope image is good as well? I've only seen one post so far talking about low HCA but bad idealscope image while going through the posts here. Thanks.

No-one but a trained professional could tell the difference between a G and a H. Both will be super white. So I save some money if possible.

Hi,

So I decided to get the 1.06 carat one. After getting home, I noticed that there's a black spot inside the table if you look straight into the table. What is the cause of the black spot? Should I be concerned about it? I hope it's not an inclusion.

What you are seeing is normal.
