Need Help on Choosing a Yellow Diamond

Hi All. Just joined and need help on choosing a diamond. I''m looking to make my wife a light yellow colored diamond for our anniversary. These are the two stones I found of interest. One is a round brilliant and the other a cushion. I found out that they are light yellow in color but can''t decide which is the better of the two. They''re both similiar in price and my wife likes both shapes. Any input on the specs will be helpful. I will be setting it in a halo(halo in yellow gold to enhance the yellow on diamond) ring shank in white gold. Thanks in advance.

Who is the vendor selling these? Fancy colours are very hard to judge over the internet, your best bet would be to find a vendor you like and trust, if you haven't already done so, and make any sale final on having the diamond examined by an independant appraiser. Much of the value of fancy coloured diamonds comes indeed from the colour, so as these stones can be very expensive, I would proceed with caution and get an expert opinion on any diamond you may be interested in. Also what type of lab report do these diamonds have?

What do you think about the specs on the diamond? Would you go with the Round or the Cushion? Price is about the same on each but I just want know which is the better among the two. Thanks.

What lorelei is saying is, we can't tell from what you have given us. Need pictures, and may need eyeballs to judge. What other information do you have, and have you seen these for yourself? Has anyone (whose opinion you trust) seen them or are they virtual stones floating in the ether waiting to be called in?

Just looking at the numbers, for example, the cushion weighs much more but will face up smaller. In a colorless stone that would be a disadvantage, but the extra depth may serve to concentrate the color for a beneficial effect. Pictures will help sort out what is going on.

ETA: I am confused by the stats. Cushion is 1.5 ct but measures 6.31 x 6.28 x 4.19. Round is 1.2 ct but measures bigger in all dimensions (!) at 6.74 x 6.81 x 4.21. Is there something I am missing?

I haven''t seen the diamond but the vendor emailed me the GIA Cert. The Round he says is very brilliant and light yellow in color with a very,very slight greenish tinge.

The cushion is light yellow in color, I''m leaning towards the cushion but worried about the girdle from what I''ve read. Anymore advice before I take the plunge. Thanks Again.
