So after a few months of learning, I have finally narrowed down my search to a few diamonds. I will be making the purchase this weekend most likely. Here is the setting I am getting and the example has a 0.76c diamond: http://postimg.org/image/j5r9kcd8n/

Please let me know which one you guys think is best, and then I can contact the store and ask questions like "is it eye clean"?

You need more information than the table and depth percentages. You will also need the crown and pavilion angles. Plug them in the HCA calculator and anything that scores less than 2.0 should be considered. Final selection should be compared in person and/or with an Idealscope image.
https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

If an Idealscope image is not available, these parameters are very safe:
Total Depth between 59 – 61.8%
Table Diameter between 53 – 57.5%
Crown angle between 34.3 – 34.9 degrees
Pavilion angle between 40.6 – 40.9 degrees
Girdle thickness between 0.7% thin to slightly thick
Culet: GIA “none” or AGS “pointed”

You have more leeway with the range if the vendor is able to provide an IS. You can have 34-35 for the crown angle and 40.6-41 for the pavilion angle.

Thank you! That calculator helped a lot in ruling out some poorly scored ones (5, 6, etc.).

I have come down to these 4 now:
A) $2654 (0.76c, SI2, H) -- scored 1.4
B) $2774 (0.8c, SI2, I) -- scored 1.4
C) $2718 (0.8c SI2, I) -- scored 1.8
D) $2938 (0.8c, SI2, H) -- scored 1.6

I am leaning towards B as it seems the most bang-for-buck (a 1.4 rating and 0.8c). I am going to call them today to ask to inspect the diamond(s). Are there any questions in particular I should be asking?

EDIT: I also decided to take a look at some "J" color diamonds. Found these:
E) $2664 (0.8c, SI1, J) -- scored 1.4
F) $2801 (0.8c, VS1, J) -- scored 1.5

Now would be a good time to find out which stones are eye-clean.

I reached out to the diamond experts and they said they will have a reply for me in 24 hours, so by sometime tomorrow afternoon hopefully. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

Just got a reply from them. They checked 3 right now for me, and all came back eye-clean. They suggested: "Inclusion visibility wise on closer inspection, $2774 would be the best option."

$2664 (0.8c, SI1, J) -- scored 1.4 - eye-clean
$2774 (0.8c, SI2, I) -- scored 1.4 - eye-clean
$2718 (0.8c SI2, I) -- scored 1.8 - eye-clean

Well, there you go...do you have any up close photos?

They wouldn't provide me with any. Here is the justification they gave me for picking $2774 as the best option:

"The reason I feel $2774 would be a better option of those is due to the type of inclusions it contains. The other two have crystal inclusions, which then to be more visible, while this stone has a twinning wisp and a feather, which are typically less visible to the naked eye. The difference in color between an I and a J is not one that would be noticed unless you are very color sensitive."

How true is this? Would I still be better off picking the J-SI1? For comparisons sake, here are the results from the GIA report:
$2774: Clarity Characteristics................................. Twinning Wisp, Feather
$2664: Clarity Characteristics.................................. Cloud, Feather, Crystal
$2718: Clarity Characteristics............................................................... Crystal

Here's a summary of my final 4 choices with the GIA report numbers:

0) 2196402915 - $2664 (0.8c, SI1, J) — scored 1.4 on HCA – eye-clean
1) 6195930622 – $2774 (0.8c, SI2, I) — scored 1.4 on HCA - eye-clean
2) 6167350923 – $2718 (0.8c SI2, I) — scored 1.8 on HCA – eye-clean
3) 5196299402 – $2801 (0.8c, VS1, J) — scored 1.5 on HCA – eye-clean

I didn’t think buying a diamond could be so hard!

Ordered the J SI2 option 0)! Super excited! I called their support line directly and the guy on the phone helped me decide what to get.

I will get the ring in a couple of weeks, and will post pictures when I do. Thanks guys!
