Looking for a ring for my girlfriend..I can describe it but haven't been able to find it. I know many people on here are very knowledgable so I was hoping someone knows of one pretty close.

The ring would be:

a pave ring
set low (not cathedral set) in a basket
elegant and subtle (not rough edges from side view, like french cut)

I've probably looked at almost 10,000 rings and found a couple that I sorta like...but not THE one. any suggestions are welcome. THANKS!

The WF Legato uses a peg head. Peg heads are easy to change. Just find a peg head that is more basket-like. The shank can be narrow like you want.
http://www.stuller.com/products/24972/?groupId=102925 is for a cushion shape. But that's the idea: Find a peg head you like and a shank you like, and combine them. Heads would be found in a "findings" catalog, or the findings section of a catalog. Get a jewelers advice if you are thinking of changing, because they usually have worked with that model of head before and can advise you of how deep it is and they can pick the proper size to get you the "look" and the scale vs. the shank, that you are seeking.

The JA ring needs to have a wide shank, because the base of the basket is rather wide. A narrow shank either would not match up aesthetically with the base of the basket, or would not have a large enough attachment point for strength.

ohhhh, i like the head you posted. is it only for cushion cut stones or would a round work as well? where can I see a findings catalog? are they online or only jewelers have them?

would i buy the ring from whiteflash, then bring it to a jeweler to set a new head? or get the head and send it to whiteflash? how does something like this affect warranty/durability?

sorry for the noobie questions.

www.Stuller.com ,
then look for the Findings icon at top of the page, toward the right, is how I found that one. It's a public catalog that anyone can look through easily. That particular head was listed under Rounds. But almost every USA jeweler has a printed Stuller findings catlog. And there are other companies that make settings and parts, or findings.

If you are buying that setting from WF, then I would work with them to customize it.

If you ask the moderators to move this thread to Rocky Talky section, it will probably get you more help. There is a Report button that you can send a message with.

^ those are some other casting companies that have catalogs online. But the jewelers have more resources, plus could get a custom-made head or entire ring made to your specifications.

thanks for the assistance..if i can't find the ring i want, i'll look further into swapping out the head.

Be careful about proportions. If the vendor shows a setting with a 2 or 3 ct diamond, it won't look the same with a 0.8ct. or 1ct.

good eyes!..I was actually on that site looking at the Truth Micropave RIGHT before I logged in here. I asked about swapping the head with something more like the stuller or JA ones above, and they said structurally the head needs to sit on the ring and baskets like that wouldn't work unless you had 2.5mm width or more.

i could see the issue with the JA head and it set lower in the ring, but the stuller style seems like it should work, no? hopefully a jeweler or expert could comment on that
