Hello all,

I did not pull the trigger yet. But, would like to find a square cushion or a asscher this week. So your help is appreciated.

Budget for the ring is around 3K and I am trying to find the best cut and symetry available. It must be at least 1 carat and would prefer whiter ones.

I would appreciate if you could help me to avoid a bad choice sendind me the links of your favorite diamonds based on the goals above.

Thank you much, AS

PS. Would you go for a cushion or an ascher based on the above?

cushion because you said she likes the Novo. And I don't think you are going to get high color for one carat. I'd shoot for spread of aroung 5.8 by 5.8 and above I color.

I took her to a R Bros store last night and I had a feeling she prefer the asscher...but, I don''t want to give her a bad asscher.
Apparently, I can get a nicer square cushion with the budget, right?

Tks, AS

Alex-
Have you called Mark at ERD yet? If you tell him your budget and what you''re looking for, he''ll work with you. I guarantee you''ll be happy with what he can find you. He''s an expert (in both asschers and cushions) and what he can find in will far exceed anything we can find here.

the 3K is for the stone and setting or just the stone??

3K just for the stone.

* I''m also looking for a thin white gold setting, with a basket (not cathedral).

Thank you!

Yes. Mark is also helping me. He said he has a beautiful asscher and will email me pictures today. Let''s see...I will share with you as soon as I get it.

In the meantime, additional suggestions are truly appreciated.

Gypsy, what would you shot for in a asscher (as fas as dimensions, symetry and C''s)?

You got the crown/ basket right though.

The challenge has been to find it without the cathedral setting. She wants a similar basket of the image you sent me , without pavet, in a thin white gold band.

Suggestions are welcome.

what about something like lynn b''s set?

That would be perfect...do you know where I can find the same without pavet?

AS

First. Pave (the little diamonds in the band) YES or NO in a setting? I''m confused on this point.

Second: This thread contains my thoughts, and Storm''s (the asscher expert on here) thought''s on asscher specs: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-help-for-newbie.81523/

BUT and I can NOT emphasize this enough... asscher (and cushions) are fancy''s and have to be seen to be judged. There have been many STUNNING asschers on here that fall outside my nitpicky specs. Mark will do a good job for you.

Whiteflash custom made Lynn''s ring. you can easily have the design adapted to have no pave, if that''s what you mean.

I think working with Mark is a great idea and he can easily do the custom WG setting for you. what she want''s isn''t that complicated and Mark might even have something in stock that fits the bill as well.

NO pave.

Thank you for the link...I will take a close look.

Also, I''m anxious to see what Mark got for me.

Finally, is it true that 1 carat asschers will feel smaller than 1 carat square cushions?

AS

not necessarily. cushions and asschers both run all over the map with their cuts. a cushion can be deep, causing it to loose spread and look smaller. go with the shape your gal wants and what falls into your budget. don''t get her something just b/c it *might* face up a little bigger. neither cushions or asschers are the right stone shape if you are going for size over anything else.

Thank you Mrs Salvo, I am glad to hear a asscher will not necessaryly look smaller.

I am looking for a square cut (asscher or cusshion). What table and depth you would recommend. Please feel free to add any other specs that you consider your ideal cut.

Tks, AS

i would follow the link gypsy gave you. i know nothing really about asscher specs to help you there but storm and gypsy can surely give you solid advice.

Thank Mrs Salvo...I''m using the link to see if I can nail this search this week.

By the way, does anybody know where I can find a setting similar to Ritani endless love without pave? Please let me know.

AS

If you''re working with Mark, you should ask him about settings. He has access to TONS!
