Hi PS'ers,

I've been lurking for a few weeks now while I'm hunting down the perfect diamond and figured I'd join and get some of y'alls great advice. My budget is approximately $6,000 for a round brilliant diamond, excellent cut, E-G color, VS2-SI1 clarity, 0.85 to 1.05 ct. I am currently looking at james allen due to their settings and diamond selection but am open to other reputable sites as well. I have found one so far that fits my criteria however the SA from james allen says that it is outside of their NY office and can not get me an idealscope of it. The HCA is 1.7. Under 20x magnification I can see inclusions that look like a grouping but at 10x I am not quite sure I can point it out.

One question I have is, is this a realistic budget to have for a diamond with my serach criteria? This is all new to me so any help is greatly apprecaited.

Thanks!!
SB

Here are the top 5 options from well-vetted, reputable vendors, that I could locate.

All of these have top-notch cuts, should be eye-clean (contact vendor to confirm it meets YOUR definition of eye-clean), and have the light performance data you need to make an informed decision:
.953ct, G, SI1

.94ct, F, SI1

If you want to break the 1 carat mark, and can expand your budget a bit, here are two more nice options:
1.00ct, H, SI1

I shot for options that were on the top of your budget, and slightly outside of it, to give you an idea of what is available in your price range and a bit more.

After you review these, if you decide that you'd like a less-expensive option, let us know, and we'll see what we can wrangle up!

Thanks Rocky, I looked at all the stones you listed, they all looked great. The only issue I'm having with whiteflash is all their three stone settings are like $2k+ without side stones  I do like this style of setting from james allen and it includes the side stone.

My GF has pretty small fingers and doesn't like large side stones however when I looked on whiteflash for diamonds under 0.3 ct they didn't have anything (or maybe I was searching wrong).

To keep the ball rolling, what do you think of this stone? It has an HCA of 1.6 and doesnt seem to have many visible inclusions even at 20x. I'm not sure about table % and depth%. I'll see if I can get an idealscope for it.

This one has an HCA of 1.9

Thanks again for all the help, it is much appreciated!
