I received this emerald cut ring the day before Thanksgiving, and since then have taken it back to a jeweler more times than I care to think about. It was perfect and so beautiful when I got it, but they could not get the sizing correct. They finally got it to the right size, but then I noticed that one of the micropave diamonds on the side was much darker than the others because it was reset poorly after the sizing. So I took it back AGAIN, and had him fix it. Now it finally fits perfectly, and the diamond on the side is fixed, but there is a darkness around the center stone that was not there previously. There are 12 diamonds around the center, but for whatever reason the four corners do not have them. When I got the ring, the eye could hardly distinguish that the corners did not have diamonds there. However, since I got it back from being repaired for the final time I have noticed that the corners are very dark. If I am in sunlight or in bright light inside the house then it is completely undetectable. When I am in normal lighting (just in the house or at work, for example) I can see the dark corners and it DRIVES ME CRAZY. It is all that I see when I look at the ring. I thought that it just needed to be replated in rhodium, so I took that to be done at a different jeweler, as I am so tired of the first store. This new jeweler agreed that after the first jeweler resized the ring, he didn't replate it and that was the issue. In the awesome lighting of the jewelry store it looked absolutely perfect when I picked it up. The jeweler even commented on how much "whiter" it was. Then, as soon as I got home and into "real" lighting, I realized that it was no different than when I had brought it in. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I love this ring, but I cannot enjoy it because all I see is this imperfection each time I look at it. Am I being crazy or is this not something that I should just live with? I am wondering if four diamonds could be added to the corners?? I just dont understand why it wasn't like this before being sized. I would really appreciate any ideas as to what needs to be done to correct the situation! Thanks for reading!
What the ring looked like before. It only looks like this now if I am in very bright light or sunlight:
