I am looking at two stones, F Si1 (1.3) for $9100 vs G Vs2 (1.26) for $9400. the Si1 was said to be eye clean. I am a novice here, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you call them up to make sure? SI1 could be eye-clean in some cases.

I did call and they looked and said it was eye clean. However, they explained that is just looking from the top-down, from one foot away. they stated that it might be seen from bottom up or from the side.

Also, both are RB, ideal cuts with ex sym and polish.

Any dimensions that you have?

table, depth, crown angle, pavilion angle and girdle thickness?

If you do not want to post the link here, use the values to input into HCA, make sure they score below 2 all should be good.

I would inquire a little more about the "eye clean" issue (unless it doesn''t really bother you TOO much). I''d ask at what point you can see the inclusion from varying angles. Some stones are completely eye clean from all distances and angles while others you can see the inclusion from 5" out and from side angles too.

But assuming it is completely eye clean, I''d go for the F SI1 1.3c and save $300 no doubt about it.

And just FYI if you are looking at ideal cut stones or "superideal" H&A I would even consider H color if money is an issue.

I found the G VS2 stone at $9350, graded VG cut but score a HCA of 0.6. Not bad but the location of the HCA graph is for far viewing, closer viewing of the stone might result in less light return for this stone

The other possible G VS2 stone did not have a GIA report online so I cannot check that out for you.

Same thing with your F SI1 stone, not GIA report too. Call them up and check for the figures.

EDT:
OK, got the wrong stone I think... :P

The stone 1, 1.3c, F, SI1, stone score a 1.3 on the HCA.

Stone 2, 1.26c G VS2 stone score a 1.4 on the HCA.

So both would perform equally well from the numbers, if you are comfortable with the SI1 grade, it would be the cheaper choice.
