Thanks!!

Hm ... well, there isn''t necessarily a difference between them. You can certainly have a bezel set diamond with a pave halo, where a band of metal will be pushed into place all around your center stone and a quantity of smaller melee will be set using tiny sections of metal over their edges to hold them in place. Alternately, you can have a prong set diamond with a pave halo, or as a third choice (not sure if this is actually what you meant in the first place) you can have your center stone bezel OR prong set and a circle of small stones set within individual bezels encircling it. I would post pictures, but I''m in a time crunch - hope the quickie explanation helps.

I''m sure someone will have useful pics but....

A pave halo refers to the fact that there are diamonds going around the center stone. You can get into all kinds of details about what kind of pave, how it is set, what size of stones, etc.

Whenever you have a halo of diamonds, you have to decide if you want the center stone set in a bezel or in prongs. Bezel refers to a ring of metal holding the center stone in place. Look at the Ritani Endless Love Halo for an example. Another way is to have prongs holding the diamond into the halo.

For a good visual, check the whiteflash site, diamond engagement ring settings. They make two versions of their halo setting. Both of these are a pave halo. Here it is with prongs.

and here it is with a bezel.

Hope this helps.

Thank you sooo much. I think this will help a lot. I''m not very good at explaining the difference and the pictures are going to make more sence to him.

Wow...I didn''t realize there were so many options. I guess I have more research to do on my part....

Pave is just the setting of the tiny stones into anything. A bezel is having a strip of metal directly around the diamond holding it vs. prongs holding it.
