Hey Everyone,

Our anniversary is coming up and i would like to get her something special. So i decided on some diamond earrings to replace the ones that she currently has.

While i''ve tried reading up on everything, there''s soo much diamonds out there to choose from that i''m not sure which would be great for earrings.

I''d like to spend around $1000, though going a little over is fine. Could i get a nice size pair of diamonds for earrings for this amount or should i save a little more?

I''m guessing something like a G, VS2 or SI1 would be good for this?

Any info would greatly be appreciated!

Thank You!

I just upgraded my studs from .89 tcw to 1.47 tcw. The stones are gorgeous, killer AGS-0 stones... both K/SI1! They are fireballs! Honestly, they are completely eyeclean, and look so white and sparkly in the ear, it''s incredible. I am 110% thrilled. Honestly, I think super ideal cut J & K color diamonds are the best secret out there!

Moral of the story -- my opinion is to concentrate on cut... you can go waaaay lower in color (and clarity) that you may realize and end up with awesome, stunning studs (and either save some serious $$$ --or-- [my first choice:] GO BIGGER, babeeee!

Here''s a thread with photos:

For your budget, Whiteflash's Ready-Set-Go pre-set studs would be perfect. They have I SI .70 ctw studs set in white gold basket settings for $1060 that would be perfect for every day wear. The stones are well-cut and will look bright and white on your wife's ears.

Lynn B:
Thanks for the valuable info. Your diamonds are stunning and beautiful! I will definately look into a lower color and clarity if i can go bigger and still stay eyeclean as well.

MC:
Well not wife yet even though i said anniversary. We've been together for 10 years this coming January, but we are engaged finally lol!

I've been looking at WF but only at the loose diamonds. But, from what you listed, those sound perfect and i am currenty looking into it. Do they offer any more info on the diamonds other than color and clarity?

*edit* Just noticed the other similar thread that you responded to about WF and their cut. Does WF offer a discount to PS users on everything or just loose diamonds?

Thank you both for your help! Happy Holidays!

My first diamond (ring) was an AGS-0 1.53 G/VS2 because I was a nervouse newbie and that was a very "safe" zone for me. And the stone was gorgeous, no doubt about it. But I kept coming back to PS and seeing these beautiful "lower" color and clarity stones and so when it came time to upgrade, I wondered, "How loooow can I go?!" So I took a deep breath (knowing it was fully returnable, though) and bought an AGS-0 2.36 J/SI2... and WOWZER!

The diamond is totally eye-clean, from all angles, and honestly, face-up and side by side with my G, neither my husband, daughter or I could see any discernible difference between the two stones. But oh, the SIZE difference was quite noticeable. And I am simply thrilled every day to own such a beautiful diamond in a size I never thought would be possible.

So anyway, that diamond really *sold* me on lower color/clarity diamonds... so when it came time to order a pair of studs, I found a killer pair of AGS-0 stones, one a .44 and one a .45, one was a J and one was a K. I was very excited to see a K stone in person. Well, the fact was I couldn''t tell the two diamonds apart! SOOOOO... when stud upgrade time came

, I ended up with two K stones, one is a .73 and one is a .74 (both SI1 although I would have been totally fine with [and indeed preferred] SI2 stones, providing they were eyeclean.)

I know "lower" color/clarity isn''t for everyone... and hey, that''s OK. I am just here to help people understand what an awesome value (and what gorgeous diamonds) they can be.

Hey Lynn B, thank you for the reassurance in getting the most for your money.

Quick question, are you buying locally or online? If online, any recommendations?

Thanks Again!

A lot of us have bought earrings from WhiteFlash. I recommend the regular stones, though, so you can upgrade them later. The ready-set-go stones are not eligible to be upgraded.

Online. Definitely online!
Recommendations? I would be happy to give my hard-earned $$$ to any of our PS vendors!

They look fabulous!

Thank you everyone for your great info and support. Have a happy and safe holidays!

Cool! Those are similar specs to mine, also from WF, and I am very happy w/ them. (I do plan to upgrade eventually so I am glad I got the individual stones). She is going to love them!!

Thanks tandogmom, im sure we will be upgrading these in the future also. Either she will want to, or i will want to since thats the reason in getting these in the first place. I got tired of looking at her current diamond earrings which is no where near as clean as these.

I just hope she loves the setting (3-prong martini), as she can be picky about certain things.

It's good to hear other people that are very happy with their purchases with WF. I just completed my order with Katie from WF and that must have been the best customer service i've received from any company so far. A+ for WF.

Yay!!!

Great choice! I think you''ll be glad you went with top quality stones that can be upgraded later, if desired! Katie is a sweetheart, for sure! She helped me with mine!

I did a search for diamonds .70 to .75 color J or K, SI1 clarity and came up with lots of choices. I am not knowledgeable about reading the stats on table, etc. If I were to choose two diamonds in this category from Whiteflash and look for stones within this search that they rate higher, would this be a good enough way to get something wonderful like the ones Lynn B describes? (When I did my search, the stones I clicked on did not have pictures available.)

I started looking for 1 carat total (half in each ear) and now feel I want bigger...Most jewelers want to sell higher color for earrings but I''m open to Lynn''s idea. I''m getting kind of overwhelmed shopping.

It would probably be best to call WF and tell them what you''re wanting, and let them find them. They don''t have anything in the J/K range in that size right now, so it could take a few days, but they are happy to do that.

Also, if you have anymore questions, you might want to start a new thread. Your questions may get lost in here.
