I am very new to the world of jewelery and am not certain who is telling me the best advice.
I have been talking with two jewelers I found online through searches for fair trade diamonds. I have decided to go with a Canadian fair trade diamond that is mined, cut, and polished in Canada by people earning a living wage(very important for both me and my sweetheart). When I started to discuss this with different jewelers I was told to consider the rings origin too, as many are made by child laborers in developing nations. So I went back to research more.
I am debating between Leber Jewelers and Security Jewelers. I have seen postings of rings from Leber''s on this site when I searched, but none from Security Jewelers. I see a few people have asked about Security Jewelers, but I have seen no responses.
I need to make a decision soon, and would love any feedback on either of these Jewelers or any advice on the best place to get a fair trade ring.
One more thing Leber makes each ring by hand from recycled metal and has a 5 to 8 week delivery time, Security can get anything in a day or two using Hoover and Strong''s eco jewelery (recycled metal as well). How thick should I look for in the ring? They had anything from 2mm up.
Has anyone gotten a hoover and strong ring and what is the quality like? I believe they are made in America is this true?
Thanks for any help.
I have been reading the last couple days and hope someone can help make sure I get the right ring, as my sweetheart deserves something special (clinical social worker helping transition formerly homeless people).
