I am absolutely fed up with searching through settings and mulling over possibilities! I''m almost to the point of just sending the stone to Leon and saying "Do SOMETHING!" I am ridiculously indecisive and my partner is trying to fumble his way through things with me, though he''s not very "into" jewellery. The one overwhelming opinion that he has is that he doesn''t like rings with halos that, in profile, look like plain discs. He thinks it looks like scaffolding for a bridge!

So - I''ve somewhat narrowed down the options. In general, they can be broken down into Halo vs None, and Pave vs Plain. Very specific, I know.

I''ll post photos of all of the exact settings that I''m considering.

# 1 - Leon with melee, inspired by bebe''s upgrade (which is stunning). With/without halo, pave on three sides, FDL detail present somewhere on the ring (think the actual FDL shape would differ from bebe''s though).

# 2 - Singlestone setting, haloed with this stunning profile

# 3 - Maytal profile with FDL - sorry for the small size, can''t seem to find more images of it anywhere.

# 4 - Leon antique reproduction, halo-less. Very beautiful, but don''t know how the proportions would be with my significantly smaller stone.

And finally, a photo from Grace of my stone, just for reference.

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions provided -- any sort of suggestions would be fantastic, as I am just umming and ahhing all over the place! Who knew it would be so hard?

Justginger, you are in good company here -- there are many of us who agonize over settings! I have a few questions for you to help me give you an opinion:

1) Your stone from Erica Grace is gorgeous! What is the carat weight and color?

2) What size finger do you have?

3) Do you want a wedding band to fit flush with the engagement ring?

I love #4 but also really like #1 and #3. #2 looks more like a RHR to me (I dont know why

).
BTW...how big is your stone?

Good questions -- should have thought to answer a few of them myself in the first place!

The stone is a 1.73 carat, I color (Grace''s estimation - which means in all likelihood it''s an H).

I have a rather small finger - around a size 3 1/4 (G-ish in Aussie sizing).

I would like a band to sit flush, even if that means getting it jigsawed. I like the idea of having a two-sided pave e-ring and then a matching 2 sided pave wedding band, with the two plain sides flush together. Not sure how practical this is from a cost standpoint though, as I would like to have a fairly cheapish wedding band (after spending so much on the ering!).

I like the look of delicate halos and think it will prevent DSS, however, I''m afraid something too big will look gauche on a small hand. I don''t like the idea of people thinking, "Is that even real?" I also dislike the idea of spending thousands on a setting, only for DSS to set in and wanting to upgrade to a halo in 2 years anyway.

Thanks for the follow-up, Ginger. I think the size of your stone will look great on your small hand -- no need for a halo, unless you specifically like the style.

My favorite out of the four styles is #4. That is an incredible setting that will show off your antique stone. You might want to check to make sure pave next to pave will be safe, before you decide on a wedding band. I''m just not sure.

If you decide you''d like a halo, I''d choose #3. The profile of that ring is lovely.

Gorgeous stone, love those chunky facets. I love #4, the Leon Antique repro.. I think it will show off your lovely stone very well, without taking away from it, kwim??? They are all lovely settings. I am just loving simple elegance these days...

Another fan of #4 here

I like #4 best of all. If you want to go halo, I love the profile of #2.

Very pretty diamond. I voted for #4.

I adore #4! Your stone is certainly large enough to stand alone (without halo) on your tiny fingers. I don''t think you''d ever regret a more simple antique solitaire. I love all the other settings as well, but I''d probably choose them for a RHR, not my e-ring.

No question. Number 4. The stone is gorgeous.

I like #4 and your stone look great!

I love the look of # 4, but also LOVE #1 So if you wanted a halo, I say 1 would be stunning. Your stone is definately large enough to stand alone as well. Beautiful choices.

Another vote for the last one - #4. As soon as I saw it I was like, Ahhhh - yes! Just gorgeous!

I voted #1, but #4 was my second

#4 is DIVINE!

I liked #3. I think it''ld keep you from having DSS! Plus the fact that it''s incredibly pretty and intricate!!

Another vote for No. 4. My 2nd choice is No. 3, if you like the idea of a halo and would like the stone to have a little extra "oomph." 1.73 is a good size for your finger - it''ll look very substantial even without the halo.

It makes my heart pitter-patter

I love the profile of the Singlestone halo though!

Number 4!

justginger...are you me?? LOL! Just kidding! I fell in love with very similar settings (the SS and the Leon) and I''m STILL trying to make up my mind!!

Did you see this on from SS? It is very similar to the one you posted, but with a lilttle more detail...it is my front runner at this point!! Just gotta get my diamond, so you are way ahead of me!

I have a silly question! Where do you find the profile shots of the SS rings? I only see the face on shots on their website

Maybe it's that I'm too busy drooling to figure it out, lol.

Also, I voted #2
