I discovered PS a few years ago. Let me say, I've learned so much here! So I celebrated my 20th anniversary this summer and I'll be turning 40 in a few months. That means I get to make a big jewelry purchase! I first had decided on a 2ct yellow radiant cut diamond from a local jewelry store. Then I discovered antique diamonds and I'm hooked. I was originally thinking a 2ct oec diamond, but now have come across an amazing oec 3 stone ring. It looks incredible. The center diamond is 1.56ct , I/J color, SI1 clarity, measures 7.43 x 7.43 x 4.57mm, with faint blue fluorescence. The side stones are 1.08ct, J/K, SI2, 6.45 x 6.35 x 4.20mm and 1.14ct I/J, SI1, 6.54 x 6.55 x 4.32mm. I don't know whether to stick with the 2ct or go with the 3 stone, that I will likely never come across again. Please give me your feedback and advice.

It's hard to give feedback without seeing the ring. It sounds like the diamonds haven't been graded, so they may be lower than stated. I'd be concerned about SI2 really being I1. If the ring can be purchased with a good unconditional return policy, I might send it to a good independent appraiser and get their opinion because you have no idea whether the price is good or not. So if you can have it appraised with the right to return with money back, then I might do that.

I think it would be fabulous to have a 3 stone ring and a larger solitaire. So if you truly love the three stone and it turns out to be priced fairly, then I would go for that now and then wait and get the solitaire diamond for your 25th! (or 21st for that matter! ;)) )

I'd check with Jewels By Grace and Love Affair Diamonds because they occasionally have three stone antique rings and they do either get lab grading or independent appraisals on their items, so I trust them. It is always good to have options to compare.

Thank you for your feedback. If I new what I was doing with computers, I would post a pic. However, the 3 stone is on the LAD websight if you would like to check it out! I think there is an appraisal done by Neil Beaty.

Please give your advice. The 3 stone I am considering is the one at Love Affair Diamonds. Your thoughts on the diamonds on that 3 stone would be so much appreciated as well!
