There is alot of parallax since the camera is at least 8 inches above the reticle on the scope. The hearts have a more distinct line when viewed (the camera was shaking in most of these pics... ADRENALINE!!!)
I''m going to be paying garry''s website a visit and ordering up an Idealscope and some goodies!!!
I never in a million years thought i''d be so into diamond hunting. I warned the boss that this would be the ONE and only diamond I would put this much thought into, but I bet the one I get her for our 50th will be even more special.
Being an Engineer, i love the beauty of math and numbers. You guys have done a great job turning this into a great, fun experience.
I''m probably going to be paying one of the fine Appraisers mentioned on pricescope a visit for some detailed tests.
Thanks a bunch and will keep you posted.
Thats a lovely thing to say and means a great deal, thank you so much Chris - we appreciate it!Date: 4/26/2009 6:00:37 AM

Theres a forum for everything, and that's where the true knowledge is located. For every 'long time lurker, first time poster', there are 20 people who have learned from your advice/input and will most likely NEVER contact you to thank you.
THANK YOU GUYS!!!
The boss is definately in love.
This is just obstruction from the observer, nothing to worry about.Date: 4/26/2009 6:45:42 AM

Ok,
total n00b question.
In most ''online pics'' like good old gold, steven allen, whiteflash etc have very dark ''arrows''. Is this just a reflection from the observer or background?
Sometimes it looks like its a mirror of whatever is in front of it (one time i saw flesh color, which was a telltale sign that it may be the observer.
I''d like to take some photos of the stone unset before it makes its home in the Tacori ring forever!!!

7. He appraised it as an RBC (round brilliant cut) and it was $4000 more than I paid, but to me, there isn''t a price to be paid for it ITS OURS NOW!!!

The fact that these perfections/qualities will be missed by all but the most seasoned diamond lovers (most care about the carat weight) fits our 'low profile' lifestyle.

Is this appraisal for insurance? If so, did you tell the appraiser? If he put down that 18k as the value, you will be paying more for insurance than if it is just based on the sale price as the replacement value is higher, but the insurance company will still only get you a similar diamond. Just something I thought you want to know.
