Looking at 2 loose diamonds for engagement but would appreciate opinions on both. I have included the GIA Report # if that helps.

1.5carat H Si1 Excellent Cut, Very Good Polish, Very Good Symmetry, No Flour. $11,700 GIA # 2141309749
1.8carat H Si2 Excellent Cut, Very Good Polish, Excellent Symmetry, No Flour. $15,000 GIA # 3135995504

Thanks for any input - need to make a decision soon and want to know if these are quality stones beyond the normal 4 cs!

Here is some more info on the 1.5carat - your input requested! Very concerned because when I put in the below parameters in to HCA I get over 5!!! The diamond seems to have quite a bit of fire/brilliance when I see it - but is this diamond total junk? And is $11000ish way to much for a stone of this quality?

Depth 61.9
Table 61
Crown 35
Pavilion 41.4

H Color, Si1 Clarity, Excellent Cut, GIA, Very Good Polish, Very Good Symmetry, No Flour.

Thanks!!

Most people prefer HCA ratings of 2.5 or lower...I would try to find something closer to that unless of course you've seen the diamond in person and you like the way it looks. What are the stats on the 1.8ct?

I've found the following 2 stones on James Allen and Good Old Gold. What do you think of these 2, and compared to the one stone I posted above?

Thanks!

The Good Old Gold stone is great and the James Allen one may be, but you need to get the idealscope image for that one. The 1.5 posted earlier has a problem because of the pavilion angle. It is usually best to stick with 40.6-41.0 when the crown angles are 34-35 or so.

Thanks diamondseeker. Anyone else have opinions on the GOG stone versus the stone with the bad HCA numbers above??
