Hello everyone.
I actually registered on the site so as to post & get expert advice on whether my diamond is a 'dead' one! It's driving me bit insane since my DH offered it to me as a surprise 5-year marriage gift. I don't want to offend his feelings especially since he bought it himself. However since he's not into gemstones etc, I feel he was not positioned to make the wisest purchase here.
It's a 1 carat diamond, G colour, SI clarity that he purchased for $3000, without certification & no details of the diamond other than a shop-card (which is why he was told he's getting a real price deal!). I will not mention names of country, shop etc to be completely anonymous.
My issue with the diamond is that I feel at times under certain lighting (shade) it has a very dark centre. On 2 areas of the rim/under the girdle there are very visible black horizontal thin streaks. Could they be blocking the light into the diamond, thus making centre darker?? Or is it to do with poor cut?? Am I bring too fussy & creating a mountain out of a molehill here, & should just enjoy the lovely gift??
Thank you for all ur help on this!! Will be attaching pictures.
