to stumble upon this website as I continue my search for the perfect diamond for my girlfriend. There seems to be a lot of knowledge on this forum, so I was wondering if you could give me some advice on a particular diamond that I found. The stats are as follows:
Shape: Round Brilliant
Carat weight: 1.12
Measurements: 6.76 x 6.68 x 4.11
Color: I
Clarity: SI2
Depth: 61.3
Table: 57%
Crown Angle: 34.9º
Pavilion Angle: 40.8º
Culet: None
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick Faceted
Certified Ideal Plus by EGL USA
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Price is in the mid $3,000''s

Is that a diamond worth buying in your expert opinion?

The only thing that has me worried is that it is certified by EGL, which I''ve seen listed as a not so great grading lab

on several articles I''ve encountered in my quest for my sweetie''s diamond. I did find on several articles, though, that the best of the EGL labs are the ones here in the USA. Should I even care for that? And if I do buy it, should I pay to send it to AGA for appraisal and gem inscription for peace of mind? Thanks in advance for your help

spiffguy..

is this the same stone you asked about in this thread?

It is the same stone mrssalvo. I didn''t get much of a response on the initial posting and wanted to see if I could get more opinions by re-posting the message.

no problem, it''s just sometimes easier to bump your original thread rather than start a new one..it can get confusing for folks like me
