Hello- Have to decide on which design I like better. #1 on the left, or #2 on the right. My girlfriend likes simple-elegant designs. I am wondering if the one with sharper corners would be too modern looking. She likes the Tiffany Lucida, which is what I based this design on. The ring will have a 1.5 ct Square Cushion E Color in it. So... what does everyone think? Which one is the most elegant and timeless? Does modern mean not elegant? Looking for any input you guys can give! Thanks!

I vote for the one on the left: it looks crisper to me, somehow. I''d say it''s both modern and elegant!

I like the one on the left also. It is very elegant with the sleek lines.

I third the left one...It''s a bit sleeker!

Ohhhh....I like the one on the left as well!

My vote is for the one on the left--it is definitely elegant! Good Luck!--I think she will love it!

The one on the left.

I''m a dude....so what do I know? But, i like the one of the left as well. I''ve had my eye on those "knife edge" styles. Personally, I think it''s still classic and sophisticated, but also has a more hip modern twist. Good luck. This is hard isn''t it?? LOL

The one of the left for sure!!! The one on the right is just a little too chunky.

I vote left as well. Right one looks a little chuncky to me.

Why does this mike_man luck out with unanimity on his question?!! Tough to find a one-handed diamond advisor; it''s always, "On the other hand..." :-)

I agree with the others...but both look great.

I prefer the right, it looks more comfortable.

I like the one of the left in terms on scale, but I *think* that the less "edgy" lines of the one on the right may be more comfortable - the knife edge just looks a little too sharp for my liking.

That knife edge will likley dent easily in time and grooves will probably form. Both look great though

They are both gorgeous and I don''t think you can go wrong here. I personally actually like the one on the right better, but I tend to like flowy designs. Luckily, they can probably smooth out number 1 after the fact if she likes that style better, but I think it would be harder to get to the sharp look from the smoothed look.

I prefer the one on the left.

Have you looked at x-prong settings? I think they are a little more elegant than the two pictured above and closer to the Lucida. Those look a little masculine to me, sorry!

I prefer the one on the right, but I'm not really into the knife edge look, I'm a matchy person so when it comes to adding the wb I would have some isssues.

The one on the right looks more like the tiffany lucida. I like #2 on the right better. It looks more comfortable also. I think most of the knife edge of #1 will be hidden when she is wearing it.

My fiance looked at them and said he liked the uniquness of #1 on the left, but he thought the one on the right looked more comfortable.

I think either will look beautiful with your 1.5 ct cushion cut. What a lucky girl.

exactly what I was going to say - although pretty, the ring is not exactly slim, are you sure the knife edge will not be too uncomfortable? Has she tried knife edge on?

I also second considering the Xprong - custom can be good, but imho only worth it when you have exhausted other possibilites. Vatche make lovely quality, and its similiar to what you have designed..

Thanks all for your help! As for some of your responses: she hasn''t tried any knife edges on, as I''m doing this as a surprise for her. The renderings actually make it look a little sharper than it actually will be. As for the denting or scratching, it''s going to be platinum so I don''t think that should happen. I don''t really want to go with the x-prong, as I have looked at that. However, I like the idea of doing custom, just because nobody will have this exact ring. I think it adds something special. She liked the Lucida, but was not set on that design, that''s why I worked some of the same styling into this one, and went from there. I attached the side view and you can see from the side that it has more of the x-prong styling from there.

I guess if it comes down to being uncomfortable then I''ll make her a new setting or get this one smoothed out, that''s the cheap part! Thank you all for your help and I will be posting the pictures when I get it. Probably only a week!

Platinum dents/displaces very easily actually. People often like the patina. Knife edge settings have a more difficult time staying clean llined due to the pounds per square inch being so great etc...Worst case scenario you get it polished often. Both will be nice

I also prefer the one on the right.

Another vote for the one on the left!

I don't know if you've already decided, but I prefer the one on the right. The smooth lines are more appealing to me.

I just wanted to throw in that I like the one on the left, more elegant, classical flowing lines...but if the other fits more comfortably, that surely does matter - heck you can''t go wrong with either.

hmm I''m gonna have to go against the majority here and vote for the one on the right.

Left proportions are better

Pehaps this type band...
