I would like some opinions on the following 2 stones (ASET + image in links)

The SI1 has a pretty noticeable dark cloud/ possibly dark crystal in middle when viewed with the loop (and is visible in the WF images - IS/ASET). It's still "eye clean" and it's her preference (whiter / appears larger from face up) and about $1300 higher.
We our making our final selection today, and there will be 3 additional stones in the lineup, one of which is a strong favorite.
Should we be able to rely on our naked eye when comparing stones in the same lighting settings?
any tips on making a final selection when just relying on your eye and preference?
I have noticed a tendency for her to pick whiter/larger when we've been comparing and eliminating stones. I do try to stress the importance of brilliance / sparkle / contrast / scintillation , etc (ie cut related).. but it's somewhat subjective and relies on the viewer's preference.
what lighting environments should we seek ? (in door fluorescent, outside, higher intensity)?
for example.. instead of doing 5 stones in the tray (all of which are very similar with very slight tradeoffs) ...would it be better to put them only 2 at a time for direct comparison?
what type of questions should we ask the appraiser? in what areas can an appraiser provide input in selecting the best stone
