Hi all,
It''s me again !! Need some advise about the stones mentioned below. Just to mention a little bit of history, looking for a stone for my solitaire necklace. Thinking of setting it in 18k Yellow gold. Someone at GOG who is working with me emailed me these stones.. I am not an expert, so can I solicit all of your expert advise on these..
I am posting links since it is too much detail to post them individually,

I like the last one the best. Great size for the money. Hard to find a .93.

Please chime in with your thoughts.

Or atleast tell me what are some things to look for in judging a stone.. I know this may be a wide topic, just some guidelines would help

Hi Dreamer, they all look like they are beautiful stones. I like number 3 b/c the depth is under 62% which I personally prefer. I''d probaby just call Jonathan and have him pull them and tell you what his eye sees

I like the third one. Nice numbers and its the biggest, but it is also quite a bit more expensive. Kaleigh is right the last one is a good size for the money. I would imagine any of them would be quite nice.

that would be my fist pick also

for a pendant this would be my second:

That angle combo would be kicken in a pendant and the slightly shorter lgf would make it a fireball where the other is tuned more for white light return and a lot of it.

Depending on which look you like better either would be kewl for a pendant. In a ring id take the one that Kaleigh mentioned.

Sorry, I am not even an amateur expert to help you pick a stone based on the numbers. The nice thing about GOG is that you can get so much information directly from them- you get the benefit of Jonathon''s expert eyes to help you select.

If it were me, I would start by setting up a spreasheet

- yeah, well that''s the sort of thing that entertains me.
I am serious- I set up a column for each characterisitc and I set up a column for $ per point.
Then I sort and re-sort to see what the different characterisitcs are costing me.

You know how some people have "mind-clean" issues? Like they MUST have VS2 or better? Well, my mind-clean issues include price. And based on that, I''d be looking to buy the best deal.

That means I vote for the last one- the .93.

Another vote for the last one.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I was looking at both

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2136/ (.93 J/SI1)

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2238 (.90 J/SI1)

I put all the different parameters. But I still can''t make out which is better or how to interpret the numbers. I know GOG gives a LOT of details, how do I use these details to narrow down the stone?

Stone Depth Table Culet Crown Pavilion cut
0.93ct J SI1 62.11 54.25 none 34.46 40.94 x/x/ideal/ 6.27 mm
.906 J SI1 62.78 54.01 none 35.6 40.6 ideal/ideal/6.13

strmrdr: what is shorter lgf ? and what is the angle combo on this one ?!? can you pls explain?!?

thanks again

To me, these stones'' numbers are so similar that I doubt if the appearance is affected by the slight differences.

So, my next question would be the inclusions. I''d want to know how /if they affect the performance.

Personally the inclusions on the .90 make me nervous, becuase I''m afraid they will somehow mess up the sparkliness of maybe they are visible to the eye.

I think the inclusions on the .93 are probably visible to the eye, too, but they are near the girdle.
So I wonder if the mess up the sparkliness at all.

I am totally okay with inclusions as long as they don''t mess up the sparkliness or jump out at you.

At this point, I''d ask Jonathan to look at it and tell you what he thinks.

Or an expert can chime in.
You''re gonna have one nice pendant !
I really like the combo of color, clarity size & price here.
Be sure to post pics once it''s set!

Thanks all for your responses.

I did run HCA for these 2 stones. .90 scored a tad better than .93. Jon from GOG says .93 may be better. Now, as I said before, since GOG gives so much data, anyway I could interpret them to make a better judgement b/w these stones? And it would be a good educating experience too for future buys..

Also, one of the B&M store offered .82 H/VVS1 H&A for $3540, the depth/table is 60.6/56 and no other data is available. So, what do you all think??
