i purchased a diamond from James Allen and had it shipped to a jeweley company to be set in a Gottlieb & Sons wedding set. I received my rings and they are absolutely gorgeous! I have the GIA report that was sent along with my stone, but my question is this, how can I be sure that the diamond they set is the diamond I purchased? The GIA report does state that it is laser inscribed. Does that mean that the GIA # is inscribed on the girdle. If so, under what magnification would I be able to view this #. Should I take it to a local jeweler to confirm this, or can I just buy a cheap microscope to view it myself?
Thanks.

It''s really small and hard to find, I think you need a fairly high powered scope to find it. Also, unless it''s an IF stone, an appraiser should be able to match the plot on the cert to your stone.

The jewelery store sent an appraisal with my purchase so I didn''t want to have to pay for another appraisal just to check the GIA #. I''m probably just being paranoid, but that''s my nature. Does anyone know what magnification would be needed to view the GIA #?

10x unless the diamond setter put the cert number under the prong. The finger print of the inclusions matching the GIA should be plenty of verification to help you...
