Need Advice....

Hi,

I am about to get engaged to my girlfriend - I have decided, with the help of my gf''s sister and also a lot of searching myself, to go with a danielk cushion cut empress ring.

However I had decided to go with a 1.5ct GVS1 but it seems that this will take 6-8weeks to make, which although a little long I was going to deal with. However they contacted me and have a ring 1.67ct GSI 2 already made. My question is at this point how much of a difference would there be in these rings apart from the price? I would like to propose sooner than the time it would take to make the ring but am a little unsure of the quality of the other one.

Anyway I hope this makes sense.

thats a big drop in clarity. personally i would feel a little uneasy about going down to a SI2. if it was me, i would wait for the VS1.

If it''s a Daniel K cushion? I would be just fine with it. Confirm it''s eyeclean. Why pay extra for something you can''t see. I''ve seen Daniel K''s cushions, and everyone one I''ve seen has been droolworthy.

I agree with Gypsy, if it''s eyeclean, why would it matter?

But at the same time, I would expect the bigger stone choice to be the same price if not cheaper than the VS1 one, for two reasons, one being the huge drop in clarity, and two being they already have it made, which means they''re trying to sell it themselves.

Assuming it is eye clean, I would go with the bigger diamond. Color is the same, you get more size, and why pay for something you can''t see?

Thanks for the help!! I am still a little uneasy about the drop in clarity, a little less so after reading the replies but I am going to see the ring tomorrow so will have a much better idea then.

Any advice on what I should be asking or looking for when I view this ring?

I would ask to see it away from the bright jewelry lights. Outside, in the sun and particularly in the shade outside. See how it performs. Loupe it to see the inclusions and check out the setting for flaws (shouldn't be ANY of those with the premium you are paying for).

If you buy it. Please post pics. IMMEDIATELY. LOL.

Definitely go for the bigger one if it''s completely eyeclean! However, if you do want it you should try to work the angle that it''s *such* a drop in clarity, much lower than you wanted, etc. and try to get it for either the same or an even lower price than the 1.5. And yes, you should defnitely post pictures!!!!

Thanks again guys - so since I last posted I have looked at another ring this one is

2.23CT H VS1 ASSCHER ''EMPRESS'' RING

which is obviously more expensive but looks really, really nice...I think I would nearly prefer this one to the GSI2 ring mentioned earlier?
