I just started looking for a diamond engagement ring for my girlfriend. I am 99% sure I want to but a loose diamond for the center stone and match it with a custom band. I found three early contenders (in my own mind) for the loose diamond and was hoping to get some unbiased input. I know there is only so much you can know based on statistics, and there is no substitute for seeing it, but in the online world, this is what we have to go by. Please let me know what you think between these three and whether you think there would be much visual difference to the naked eye.

Also, I would be interested in everyone's thoughts on the medium blue florescence and whether I should stay away from it. All I care about is how the diamond looks;I don't care about any stigma that may go along with florescence in some people's eyes.

All diamonds are ROUND cut.

Diamond 1:

1.1 carats
H color
Clarity VVS2
Flourescence: medium blue
GIA graded cut, polish, and symmetry all Excellent
6.59 - 6.63 x 4.09 mm
Table 57%
Depth 61.9%
crown angle 34.5
Pavilion angle 41.0
Star length 50%
Lower half length 80%

Diamond 2:

1.08 carats
H color
Clarity VS2
Flourescence: medium blue
GIA graded cut, polish, and symmetry all Excellent
6.55 - 6.61 x 4.06 mm
Table 57%
Depth 61.7%
crown angle 35
Pavilion angle 40.8
Star length 55%
Lower half length 80%

Diamond 3:

1.03 carats
H color
Clarity VS2
Flourescence: faint
GIA graded cut, polish, and symmetry all Excellent
6.5 - 6.53 x 4.01 mm
Table 56%
Depth 61.6%
crown angle 32.5
Pavilion angle 41.2
Star length 45%
Lower half length 80%

Thanks.

I'm a novice here, but I can tell you that that all three stones pass the HCA test. I can also tell you that when you get some of the forum experts to respond to your post, the first thing they will probably ask for is an Ideal-Scope image of each stone. So you should probably ask your vendor to supply some ideal-scope images for you. Good luck!

I guess I should add that I welcome any of the vendors out there to help find something comparable preferably $7k or under. Looking for best cut over a carat between G and H.

I don't think the vendors are allowed to suggest any of their own diamonds on this forum, I've certainly never seen it in the time I've been here. The best you can hope for is for one of the resident expert consumers (a.k.a. "prosumers") to make some suggestions for you. However, to make any comparisons against the three stones you posted, you would need to supply images.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should try out the Diamond Search Tool on this site.

Here's one that meets your criteria, as far as I can tell, and it's available from a vendor who is well-respected on this board:

It's SI1, but they have the diamond in-house, so they should be able to tell you if it's eye-clean.

Thanks for the insight. That is really what I meant. I'm very new to the site. Just looking for all the help I can get.

Found a 4th I am considering because it is $6800. Is this a good deal?

Diamond 4:

1.02 carats
H color
Clarity VS2
Flourescence: none
GIA graded cut, polish, and symmetry all Excellent
6.42- 6.46 x 3.97 mm
Table 58%
Depth 61.7%
crown angle 34
Pavilion angle 40.8
Star length 55%
Lower half length 80%

I-Scope and ASET are attached. Was hoping they would be better, but they do not look bad to me. (sorry ASET uploaded twice)5130304_aset_image.jpg5130304_aset_image.jpg5130304_idealscope_image.jpg

Leaning toward number 4. Smaller than I wanted but the price fell below $6,400. My only concern is that two of the "arrows" are shown closer together than the rest under the i-scope. As a newbie to all this, I'm just wondering if anyone thinks I will notice or if I am overreacting. Was hoping to get some thoughts from some experienced people on the board. Good deal or keep looking? I have plenty of time still. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
