Hi All,

Have been a long time reader and have absorbed much information from you all. Thank you.

I would advice on the following stone that I am considering on purchasing. The stone specs are below along with the attached report:

AGS Triple 0 Cut
E Colour
SI1 Eye Clean
1.02 Carat Weight Round Diamond

A few questions I have when looking at the report which I can't figure out are:

1) It was certified by AGS in August 2014. Why has it been around so long and no one has picked it up or is it used?

2) It scores a 1.9 HCA using the tool. After searching ideal proportions, seems the ideal cut proportions are not in line with this stone for example ideal table percentage, ideal pavilion angle, etc. Does this mean it is a bad stone?

Your thoughts and advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

The crown thickness is really low by our standards. The ASET on the report looks decent but it falls a bit short of the super ideal ASETs most of us on PS look for.

Thank you for your reply.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated please as I would like the advice of this forum. I have it on hold but with my due diligence is the best I had found locally for a decent price.

Thanks in advance.

It's a well-cut 60-60 make (meaning table% and depth% are both close to 60). The charm of the 60-60, when well-cut, is abundant brightness. The trade-off is reduced dispersion compared to well-cut Ideal makes or transitional cuts with smaller tables and higher crowns.

Like John said, it is 60/60 style with AGS 0 light performance. It is a good stone by its own right.
Dispersion may be reduced due to the low crown angle and large table. But it is still AGS 0, meaning, although reduced, not significant enough to lower the overall light performance to AGS 1.

I think the girdle thickness ("thin") is perfectly fine.
